  1. Alternate warships of nations

Go for the Vickers Pederson but convince the War Office that the special waxed ammunition is unneeded and counter productive.
  2. Alternate warships of nations

You'd have to reopen some closed yards assuming they haven't been completely asset stripped. The big problem would be the Battleships as much of the needed industry had been deliberately destroyed during the building holiday. It would help if at least half of those Destroyers were Corvettes...
  3. Alternate warships of nations

I'd have nominated this piece of junk myself. Should do really well in European waters with the Germans and Italians running rampent.
  4. How important was the Dunkirk evacuation ?

So THAT'S how the goat got into so many women.
  5. The Forge of Weyland

Don't do things half way, go large or go home.
  6. Alternate warships of nations

Before or after she burns and falls over in New York?
  7. Alternate warships of nations

I guess we're looking at these guys. For the navy they buy the old Iron Duke from the UK, along with HMS Vindictive which they have converted to an aircraft carrier.
  8. AHC: Peerless Air Ministry

A Government that always acts in what is actually the best interest of the country without thought to personal gain of its M.P's, political dogma or their chances at winning the next local government or General Election. Even A.S.B's won't touch that one.
  9. The Forge of Weyland

To many Generals in the past it was better to reduce your force by 10% than have 100% of your force mutiny or desert.
  10. How important was the Dunkirk evacuation ?

They expected that they'd only be able recover 40-50,000 of the B.E.F. though and still decided to fight on.
  11. The Forge of Weyland

Modern usage of the term doesn't come close to doing justice to the shear horror of a classical decimation punishment. It's not just that 1 in 10 are brutally executed but that the other 90% have to carry it out and then live with the fact that they killed their closest friends, brothers in...
  12. AHC: Peerless Air Ministry

They had the aircraft but those damned Byzantines didn't deliver the petrol in time.
  13. How much would it cost the modern UK to rebuild the Royal Navy to 1960s/70s levels of fleet strength?

What's the lowest possible "scrap" price we could con the US into accepting for just retired Frigates and Destroyers? Bermuda and the few remaining Caribbean possessions and outright ownership of the British Indian Ocean Territory?
  14. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

Followed by "This hurts me more than it does you".
  15. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

Mine could do it just by raising a finger (not the middle one) and saying firmly "Enough". Everyone in the room from 3 to 80 would immediately sit down, shut up and look very sheepish.
  16. An 1-engine fast bomber for 1935-45?

Did anyone ever get one of those twined monstrosities to actually work reliably? The only twined engine I can think of that actually worked was the Double Mamba but that's a Turbo Prop not a piston engine so doesn't count.
  17. The 1917-1918 "Spanish"Flu pandemic ends WWI without a bonafide armistice or treaty.

The way I read the OP the Spanish Flu has hit so hard that the Central Powers may not be able impose the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk at all and probably are unable to enforce it if they have due the number of troops sick or dying. This number must be huge if it forces an unofficial cease fire.
  18. Hawker Hurricane even more prolific and versatile?

I was thinking maybe Hawker Heron for the Sea Hurricane to fit in with the late 30's naming convention.
  19. The Forge of Weyland

He forgot the old saying that "He who sups with the Devil should have a long spoon".
  20. Hawker Hurricane even more prolific and versatile?

Thinking about my previous post, a pre war Sea Hurricane might have a different name if it has folding wings, increased range and a radial engine (Perseus for spares compatibility with the Skua?) giving it a different look to the land Hurricane. Now what's an appropriate name? The naming...
