  1. More Helicopter/light carriers in post ww2 period

On the OP, it’s very conceivable that several nations could have built / bought helicopter carriers, particularly if we think of these as smaller ships optimised for amphibious operations - including humanitarian assistance - and anti-submarine warfare. The San Giorgio Class would have made...
  2. More Helicopter/light carriers in post ww2 period

Not sure if it is now, but it use to be US policy not to confirm or deny if any particular vessel was carrying nukes.
  3. More Helicopter/light carriers in post ww2 period

People just need to remember that each nation will make its own decisions on its security based on its individual circumstances. Any rational and objective assessment of New Zealand’s strategic environment would hardly be critical of its levels of investment in defence.
  4. The Forge of Weyland

    Unnecessary.
  5. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

People just getting ahead of themselves.
  6. The Forge of Weyland

  7. WI: Potty training your kid as early as possible becomes popular?

I don’t know any parents who haven’t tried to potty train their kids as soon as they felt they were ready. I know some - and my wife and I on one occasion - may have had a stop-start approach to it all because they got frustrated that it wasn’t initially meeting with success. How long do you...
  8. The Forge of Weyland

Not technically, just correct. It’s commonly used in that way and shouldn’t be. Ok I’ll calm down now. Keep up the great work.
  9. The Forge of Weyland

Sounds good to me. Great new chapter. I have one little nitpick - You say the German high command is worried about the panzer divisions being “decimated”. That word literally means to be reduced by one-tenth. I think given what has already occurred they’d be worried about the panzer divisions...
  10. What is the maximum carrying capacity of New Zealand?

I was sure this thread would be about sheep.
  11. The Forge of Weyland

The problem with this is those divisions weren't actually fully formed, equipped and/or trained. The 8th Division you mentioned only had two brigades and lacked division troops. The Canadians, Australians and Kiwis weren't fully trained and/or equipped. We have to remember that we're in May...
  12. The Forge of Weyland

Think they mean the 8th Infantry Division of the British Army. It was garrisoning Palestine at the start of the war. Although Wikipedia tells me it was actually disbanded early in 1940.
  13. The Forge of Weyland

What was the point? Foolish old me just reads it as you once again offering up a history lesson (that all of us who are interested already know) without a point that actually relates to the discussion.
  14. The Forge of Weyland

    You did this on purpose.
  15. The Forge of Weyland

I know it’s going to happen again that someone will mention Australia, Canada, New Zealand, but let’s remember that without the Fall of France there won’t be a rush in enlistments so they’ll have less than they did historically to contribute.
  16. Rearm the ANZACs for the Pacific War.

Exactly, and given the OP it would make sense. Of course, the OP still needs to flesh the scenario out more. (We can say that though about the OPs in a lot of threads.)
  17. The Forge of Weyland

I thought 1st Armoured Brigade would have rejoined 1st Armoured Division?
  18. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

    Sorry here for the updates.
  19. Sir John Valentine Carden survives.

Do you two need to have another off topic argument here? The OP said earlier he was getting a bit annoyed by all the off topic crap. These arguments are tiresome.
  20. The Forge of Weyland

Much as I am enjoying this, I have to admit it would really be handy to see maps because I am confused by relative locations.
