AHC/WI: Earliest possible dissolution of the HRE.

One could argue that the HRE delayed unification of both Germany and Italy as it worked against centralisation around a particular region.

For how long could the Carolingian Empire remain united?

Indeed it's the traditional partible inheritance that's the problem. OTL they tried to solve it with the Emperor title not being partitioned and having the kings all be subject to him however the kings's de facto independence ended up crushing the de jure dependence and it took Otto to resurrect...

We Shall, With Our Sabre, Defend

Would not Ukraine be titled Ruthenia here? Iirc (the) Ukraine just means borderlands or marches and wouldn't be used as a more "stately" name until around the 18th century OTL With an actual 3rd State being created shouldn't that State form the basis of tge subsequent country and nation?

AHC: A different basis of Modern English

No. Chaucer merely popularised a dialect that what already spoken and came about as a means for the mixing Middle Classes to communicate with both the mostly French nobles and mostly English lower classes. Making it less French doesn't serve that purpose.

    AHC: North Germanic speaking Germany

Essentially no. Based on the comparative sizes of speakers, competing prestige languages, and power projection it would extremely difficult to have the majority of what is now Germany speaking a Danish/Swedish dialect.

    WI: Buckingham assassinated Richard III?

Executed almost immediately. He just killed their king in public. Yes and yes, as I see Gloucester mainly having had personal loyalty to him rather than his line per se. Norse conquest of England and linguistics

Well, the North Sea area sort of already has one but I can a more definite one arising. However sprachbunds tend to be evident among unrelated languages and there's going to be a lot of interchange between the Old English and Norse dialects here to the point one might not be able to claim...

Another Anjou as Queen of England

Could Edward's inheritance of Lorraine spark war? If not then his son's marriage to Burgundy almost certainly would as France seems likely to dispute those territories currently in France.

Norse conquest of England and linguistics

I disagree. Such a scenario is more likely to result in the languages merging than in Norse being a separate courtly language.

Norse conquest of England and linguistics

I don't think even that creates conditions for Norse to be the court language.
