  1. Why did the A10 not get for users?

    Luftwaffe A10  for modellers.
  2. WI: Target Rosyth

They were engaged by spitfires from 2 seperate squadrons, both of which claimed kills. These were 602 'City of Glasgow' who were based at Drem at the time to cover the East coast and 603 'City of Edinburgh' based at Turnhouse. 602 bagged a Ju88 shortly after 603 brought down their first...
  3. The Need for Speed: Technology Thread

It's a glamorous thread to be sure. Air hostesses, I see air hostesses. :) A magazine type article describing the air fighting over Korea would be cool.
  4. After Falklands War the Brits get new Long-range Bomber

I was going to mention the Tornado as an alternative to a large bomber such as the B1b. How many refuels would it require to carry out a black buck type op though? Agreed about the Nimrod. Too few, too valuable and too specialised for conversion into a bomb truck. Actually the Nimrod saga in...
  5. The Need for Speed: Technology Thread

Enjoying this timeline DF. You're right, Jetpunk is a good way of describing it. Lots of shiny aluminium and glowing hot exhausts. Nice to visualise.
  6. After Falklands War the Brits get new Long-range Bomber

But by that time the VC10, good though it was, was out of production. I've seen the idea of resurrecting TSR2 in the early 1980s brought up in other threads as well. It seems that the B1B really would have been the only option. I know that no right of center govt is going to relinquish it's...
  7. After Falklands War the Brits get new Long-range Bomber

Interesting that the B1B was on offer. I wonder what an RAF B1 deployment would look like. How many aircraft/squadrons? I can't think of any other aircraft that would fit the bill at that time. Perhaps an airliner converted into a stand off platform but that's not really the same thing is it?
  8. DBWI: A Falklands War

If it had come to serious blows the consequences for both countries would have been interesting. Argentina wins then the regime survives longer than it did (but probably not that much longer) and Thatcher gets a clear mandate to piss off in 83 rather than clinging on to power by her fingertips...
  9. War Rhinoceroses?

thanks man I never knowed none of that
  10. WI: No World Wars?

I thought he was talking about all the missing punctuation. It was a long sentence.
  11. WI more AEW?

So the EC121 becomes the NATO Sentry system of the 1960s? How effective were the Shacks of No8 Squadron? Would the EC121 have afforded a significant upgrade to UK defence? I think it would look good in Japanese colours as well as some others. I can see it being used in potential flashpoints...
  12. Create your own ATL music genre!

This is a good thread. I'm struggling now to think of a catchy name for the genre of music that an electrified Incredible String Band might be part of. A blend of celtic folk, psych-folk and English beat with lashings of western mysticism is what I have in mind. Anyone? The usual...
  13. AH Osprey books...

Off the top of my head and without getting into it too much how about basing it's history on similar lines to the Royal Auxiliary Air Force. Have Indian units start up as RAF auxiliaries with mainly Brit officers. A gradual move in the late 1930s from army cooperation duties to fighter...
  14. AH Osprey books...

Good one. Would like to see a better and bigger Indian air force in WW2.
  15. Behemoth: A path not taken

Very well written I've enjoyed this so far. You write a good story. Please continue.
  16. AH Osprey books...

No my friend, but I think I might start one soon. Maybe lump them all in one timeline?
  17. AH Osprey books...

Sounds good to me. I'd buy it :D Here's mine (simple stuff) RAF and FAA Squadrons in the Vietnam War 1967-1972 (Cover shows a Sea Vixen despatching a MiG 17 as Scimitars unload their ground attack ordnance at a lower altitude) Royal Auxiliary Air Force Fighter Squadrons from WW2 to the...
  18. WI: 1966, Bob Dylan is Dead and the Beatles Break Up

The Pete Best situation certainly was a heartbreaker. It's also a shame that he never really managed to break out as a drummer in his own right with bands other than the Beatles. Would have been nice to see him achieve some success with other chart topping bands through the 1960's and beyond...
  19. WI: Palin runs in 2012

You know I just realised, when I wiped away the tears that I've laughed more often and more loudly on the alternatehistory forums than on any other website. Thanks for the giggles guys. :D
  20. WI: 1966, Bob Dylan is Dead and the Beatles Break Up

Oops, I should have read this post first. :o
