  1. WI: The 16th Amendment creates an uprising

True the people were for an income tax but had you told them that it would eventually get up to a 90% rate and hold at 25 to 35% rate it would be a Dead Issue forever. Fact the 16th Amendment would probably be to Outlaw that type of tax. Same with Social Security if you told people when I...

Yeah but taxes I think we're the biggest part remember the Whiskey Rebellion after Washington became president? I don't recall very many other than the Civil War where representation was a major Rebellion

  5. WI: 9/11 happened in 1995

ISDN came out in nineteen 88 and compared to dial up it was great the thing is yet if to telephone wires coming into your house. Before that it was dial up which sucked even then. I don't think we had ISDN more than a year so before true DSL came out. But it's all relative if you have dial-up...
  6. Why did Hitler betray the Japanese in 1941?

The declaration of war on the United States was part of a treaty that Hitler had was Japan. Ironically it's one of the few treaties he ever kept. If I remember right Hitler did not want to go to war with the us at that time and was pissed at the Japanese for attacking the United States. Allies...
  7. AHC/WI: The Royal Family, the Cabinet and the Prime Minister are killed during the Blitz.

Plus for Germany the peace regardless of what the Allies wanted is going to be a lot more draconian. I'm thinking the British are probably going to go almost to a Stalin type occupation. Not sure if it'll change anybody's view on Russia, Churchill didn't trust them, but you never know how far...
  8. So.... was Stalin good for Russia, or not?

Now after seeing the relatively mild rule of Khrushchev she realize what a real monster her father was and that the USSR was not going to change.
  9. So.... was Stalin good for Russia, or not?

I have read through the whole thread and further than quote a huge but interesting post I'd like to point out Stalin continue to hurt his people by not accepting Marshall Plan Aid and not allowing the countries that he was still controlling in Europe to have it. Also what is it about Russia /...
  10. So.... was Stalin good for Russia, or not?

I think the most telling thing that Stalin was not good for the Soviet Union is the fact that his daughter defected to the United States. Family usually knows you closer. I just want to know why the US did not make a bigger propaganda deal out of it.

The Soviets quickly realized that they screwed up. So they might not has been as paranoid about Able Archer maneuvers. Us Soviet relations while not becoming buddy buddy I'm guessing would be slightly better than in OTL.
  13. WI: Big Tobacco wasn't so shady

How much of the blame belongs to Uncle Sam? Up until World War 1 cigarettes were considered feminine and it was only women who smoke them for the most part. Uncle Sam then started giving them to troops . I would say that would have been the biggest Factor in making big tobacco what it is today.
  14. DBWI: Eisenhower doesn’t defect to the Soviet Union in WWIII

Plus how long would he have lived in the Soviet Union? He had severe heart problems that the United States standards of medicine could barely keep him alive I doubt seriously if the USSR had standards even close to the US's. I would think he would be lucky to be alive for 4 or five years in the...

  16. So.... was Stalin good for Russia, or not?

Stalin should have known about Hitler after all they were allies.
  17. So.... was Stalin good for Russia, or not?

I think when you're discussing Stalin the amount of people that he killed does have a lot to do with her he was good for rush hour or not if you're one of the tens of millions killed I'm sure your vote would be no. During the war he might have been the equivalent of Roosevelt and Churchill...
  18. If 9/11 happened during the Reagan administration?

And at the other end of the spectrum I would guess in 1983 there would be a better chance of having aircraft nearby that could actually intercept some of the craft. They said that they're 911 they couldn't get fighter jets there because they were based in Delaware and it took too long cat news...
