  1. AHC: California's Central Valley becomes as populated as Tokaido Corridor

hmm could early irrigation possibly work? make the land more fertile in general?
  2. AHC: Four World Wars, before the advent of (significantly destructive) WMDs

it was in both before and after 1900 so I became lazy haha
  3. AHC: Four World Wars, before the advent of (significantly destructive) WMDs

For the first two, I'm expecting the nature to warfare to be driven by great powers fighting amongst themselves for gains in Africa/Balkans/Middle East; for the later two, I think it'll be between the established powers and the emerging ones who did not gain much in these areas, i.e. United...
  4. AHC: Four World Wars, before the advent of (significantly destructive) WMDs

This is a slightly lazy AHC but hope you'll bear with me. The challenge is to have massive, industrialized warfare in the 1880s, 1900s, 1920s, and 1940s (or roughly in that timeframe) that involves significant power shifts and border changes. The POD is wherever around the 19th century it seems...
  5. AHC: California's Central Valley becomes as populated as Tokaido Corridor

the current western United States is geographically dominated the Central Valley, one of the most fertile valleys in the world. OTL it comprises 160,000 sqkm and dominates the state of California. For reference here is a picture of the Central Valley compared to the Japanese Home Islands: With...
  6. AHC/WI: During Civil War, Imperial Russia reestablishes gov't in Istanbul

With a POD in 1914, and without significantly changing the military course of war, make it so that during the Russian Civil War the Emperor and his troops flee to resettle in Istanbul(perhaps redeclared as Constantinople?) and secure a defensible perimeter against both Turks and Soviets...
  7. AHC: Russo-Japanese conflict becomes World War

well...true but I doubt the British would consider that as a viable threat to war
  8. AHC: Russo-Japanese conflict becomes World War

The challenge is that, with a POD in 1900, alliances between great powers are already in place that when a Russo-Japanese conflict occurs, major powers are dragged into it. Relevant documents of OTL, before the 1904-1905 conflict: Treaty of London 1839 1839 - Britain guaranteed Belgian...
  9. AHC/WI: Christian state in Palestine

Maybe British and American entrepreneurs/pastors encourage the destitute of the Great Depression to find new opportunities by funding immigration?
  10. AHC/WI: Christian state in Palestine

    Bump. No takers?
  11. AHC/WI: Christian state in Palestine

Either due to the anti-conservative backlash of the Scopes Monkey Trial and/or the Great Depression leading to a widespread resurgence in Christian fundamentalism or other reasons, make US Christian fundamentalists spearhead another crusade where they colonize and occupy Jerusalem and Palestine...
  12. a third superpower during the cold war

My favourite is Pan-Arab/Islamic Union concept that stretches from Gibraltar to Papua New Guinea. Needs a severely weakened India to work though
  13. AHC: Japan- champion of freedom in Asia

Problem is, pre-1945 financial relations around the world was much more fractured as empires were attempting to establish currency-based hegemony, with no sweeping waves towards economic liberalism; either Japan needs to lead Asia towards cooperation or forge stronger alliances with one of the...
  14. AHC: Japan- champion of freedom in Asia

It's hard to reach any form of rapproachment when you're already occupying parts of their territory, i.e. southern Manchuria and Shandong. Furthermore not sure how a (un)successful Chinese republic is relevant.
  15. AHC: Japan- champion of freedom in Asia

and that's why I suggested the POD be Japan losing the first sino-japanese war..?
  16. AHC: Japan- champion of freedom in Asia

When Korea was annexed in 1910 it was with southern Manchuria as a sphere of influence in consideration, which is Chinese territory. Either China and Japan need to agree to leave Korea neutral, or divide it amongst themselves.
  17. AHC: Japan- champion of freedom in Asia

Yes to the first question. And these humiliating deals *will* be making the situation worse in the eyes of the West to the second question. OTL this transpired as Japan invading Manchuria and later mainland China, TTL this becomes Japan/China/Korea forming a united front against Western imperialism.
  18. AHC: Japan- champion of freedom in Asia

This was the causus belli of OTL, Japan was helping Korea "gain independence from Qing China"
  19. AHC: Japan- champion of freedom in Asia

They need to collaborate with China and Korea instead of trying to undermine them. Losing the First Sino-Japanese War along with some other humiliating deals with the West may do the trick
  20. Mahakhitan: A Chinese Buddhist Civilization in India

    This is great, keep going
