    Well it *is* a WI, and after a war I have my doubts on how harsh the US can be towards the Japanese. The political repercussions would be enormous.

    True the POD *was* 1945, but I meant post Japanese surrender in terms of war - sorry about not specifying. I was thinking if MacArthur, in his full-blown ego, makes some crucial mistake down the road and ends up with some sort of US-South Vietnam situation(monks burning themselves, etc).
