Speaking of artifacts, I don't have any personally, but from back when I lived in Kansas, I remember the state was just littered with junk from the GW2. I don't know the exact battles or anything though; I should really read my history more.
It's kinda ironic that Texas voted for and was granted annexation a decade after the war because they couldn't pay off their debts, considering how that parallels what happened to them in the 1800s as well. I do suppose that was better than forceful annexation, what with will of the people and...
For the regiments, set the focus on a couple of Northern States to soldiers. For the British, go to their diplomacy screen (right click on some of their territory for a shortcut) and increase influence with them.
