  1. Clinton launches strikes on North Korea in the '90s over its nuclear program?

It's not too well remembered today, but a similar situation to the current crisis occured in the 1990s regarding North Korea, in the last years of Kim il-Sung's reign. NK hadn't tested a nuke yet but the US was getting seriously alarmed at its plans and for a time things look like they might go...
  2. D-day paratroopers?

The presumption of the thread is that the entire D-Day invasion force would be delivered by air.
  3. D-day paratroopers?

It would be a brave officer indeed who'd be entrusted with the job of informing his unit's men they'd be sent out in M22s against Panthers and Tigers.
  4. OTL Cities which could have been great?

The best chance for Anchorage to grow is it to become a major resupply port en route from the West Coast to Asia, as IIRC it is on the shortest great circle route between many places in the north Pacific. The problem is that Hawaii is already there and a better option climatically and...
  5. WI: Edwardian European monarch accidentally kills another while hunting

In the early 1900s, when family ties among European monarchs were even closer than today, it was not unusual for what were in effect family members to go on hunting trips together - IIRC George V took his cousin Nicholas II in the early 1910s. What if, during some such trip, one monarch ended...
  6. AHC: Juche Serbia

Or Moldova, the Communists got into power legitimately by election in 2001. Have this happen earler and have then create a new, independent Moldovan communist republic. Though the IRL Moldovan Communists seem to be as dedicated to Communist ideals as the other former Eastern Bloc ruling...
  7. OTL Cities which could have been great?

Nanjing would be huge had the ROC won the Civil War.
  8. OTL Cities which could have been great?

What about Cordoba absent a Reconquista?
  9. OTL Cities which could have been great?

Pyongyang would probably be a fair bit bigger than today had the Korean War somehow ended in reunification under the South.
  10. OTL Cities which could have been great?

I presume you mean the Bay Area, as San Fran proper is just too geographically limited to expand - like Seattle as opposed to its area. LA County has a large amount of flattish land in a not-so-flat larger area, plus a port. Same reason Tokyo grew so much.
  11. OTL Cities which could have been great?

Great example. Rotterdam, too, in a country larger than the Netherlands - another excellent natural port.
  12. OTL Cities which could have been great?

Something that popped into my head. Which OTL cities of small or medium size could have become large global cities, either in their country's OTL borders or in an ATL's?
  13. AH Fixations of Yours

I have quite a fascination with the Worldwar series of books; I always look out for TLs where things are done differently than in the originals.
  14. OTL Election maps resources thread

Burgas (the large province in the Southeast Black Sea shore) used to be a Patriotic Front stronghold (the leader of one of the parties is from there), but the United Patriots seem to have done less well there this year, though better than the national average.
  15. One Of The Builders

    Interesting; will be following.
  16. How much damage would Seoul suffer in a war with North Korea?

I think people are underestimating how difficult it is to destroy a city the size of Seoul. It's a vast megalopolis of 20 million people in total in the metropolitan area. Even North Korea's large long-range artillery park would only cause mild damage on the whole.
  17. Would Greece have been better off today had it been in the Soviet sphere during the Cold War?

No, it wouldn't be; Greece and Bulgaria were at comparable levels of development in the 1940s and Greece is now quite a bit wealthier than Bulgaria, though the gap is slowly narrowing.
  18. WI: "Partition" of Jammu and Kashmir

It's always good to see another South Asia WI. One thing that might make this possible is Britain deciding how the various princely states would end up, rather than them choosing the state to accede to on their own accord (well, being pressured into it by New Delhi/Islamabad). Not sure if the...
  19. Paper Doves in Flight: Poland & The World After Communism

Just finished up the entire TL. Hoping for an update soon, once you return from your fishing trip. Is there any chance of an update on Russia?
  20. New Deal Coalition Retained: A Sixth Party System Wikibox Timeline

In what way? They aren't going to use *nuclear weapons* on civilians. Also, OTL South Africa had nuclear weapons. Even though they were not public as in TTL, I've never heard them being a factor in apartheid or its end.
