Look to the West: Thread III, Volume IV (Tottenham Nil)!

Me too, I've thought that since the name first came up.

I like long stories (probably because I read quickly), and would like to write one myself eventually (I have about 12k words , consisting of a prologue and parts from a few lines to 90%, of 8 non-sequential chapters, of a fantasy story written, I might post the prologue at some point)

And it's about what, 1860 in the story? So if you carry on to 2019 at about the same rate it will be over 1.6 million words, in 8 or 9 volumes, which would be more than the Harry Potter series.

Indeed, but I read a lot of US websites and have got used to the date format. I have been known to write the date the wrong way round in real life.

Good point, I didn't notice that (maybe I'm too used to US dates...)

Well in OTL they re only in years divisible by 4 because they happened to start in 1896. It's not implausible for them to start in a year ending in 1, 5 or 9 (whichever ends up with 2019 being an Olympic year, I CBA to work it out). Speaking of the Olympics, and a thought regarding athletics...

    Sports What Ifs.

Semi related, but I've always wondered what a cross between CFL rules and Rugby league would look like (13 a side, 6 downs to score, essentially everything else like the CFL)

AHC: One family produces >4 POTUS

Kennedys are probably the easiest. JFK, Bobby, Ted, John jr and then one of the modern ones whose names escape me.

    WI: Elizabeth I had married

The rumours about Christina of Sweden are well known, and aren't what I was referring to, but I take your point about Elizabeth and Dudley. Of course even bearing that in mind it's still more plausible than the "Elizabeth was a secret man / intersex / whatever" insanity.

    WI: Elizabeth I had married

Haven't other people claimed (marginally more credibly, but likely impossible to prove) that she was a lesbian? I seem to remember someone claiming she had a sexual relationship with a female member of her staff or something.

    Alternate Leaders #1 'We're Alright'

Haha, very well done. What next? Brian Clough, Prime Minister?!

Defmation laws applied to the dead

I think its more likely in the UK than the US. As you say though, it really wouldn't help in terms of free speech. It would also probably have prevented the Jimmy Savile revalations coming to light.

Result of a terrorist attack on the Sochi Olympic Games?

Presumably similar ones, I would imagine. You'd get the usual suspects blaming the Illuminati, Israel, the US, etc. Plus probably some people saying it was aliens...

Result of a terrorist attack on the Sochi Olympic Games?

I wonder if in the case of a 9/11 scale attack or bigger, and the absence of there being anything in Chechnya that they could realistically meaningfully retaliate against, the temptation might be to go after Georgia again.

Result of a terrorist attack on the Sochi Olympic Games?

It probably depends on the scale of any attack. There would be calls from hardliners in Russia to bomb Grozny I would imagine.

Result of a terrorist attack on the Sochi Olympic Games?

If it was definitely Chechen rather than Middle Eastern / Somali in origin I can imagine Putin's reaction against Chechnya being pretty severe.

Agent Lavender: The Flight of Harold Wilson

I haven't posted a great deal in this thread, but I have been reading from the start, if anything simply because the title intrigued me the first time I saw it. I thought the ending was quite fitting really, and gave me a vibe of "nothing ever really changes" more than anything else. I do...

American Presidential Veto was Curtailed or Removed

Allow a line-item veto but don't allow him to change the general intent of the bill. Of course the meaning of "general intent" would be argued in court, but still... Isn't that similar to what happens in Ireland?
