    I wanted to keep the whole stars motif, like in Australia and New Zealand's flag. (This nation is supposed to be comprised of OTL Australia and New Zealand, though back in the 30s, they also had Papua New Guinea, Nauru, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia, so that's why.)
