  1. Civilization V

Here is my first game as France (start location in Persia, second longest game, second biggest map type, real Earth, only Warlord difficulty tho since I havent really played Civ since Civ3) Been doing great. Own Africa, Middle East, Caucasus, Persia and India, pretty much. Allied with almost...
  2. Victoria II

Containement is pretty harsh. It occurs if your Infamy exceeds 25. You give away half your (tax) income and cant build troops for 5 years. Value all your divisions in the meantime. Also, if you can, use Tariffs for all your revenues for the next 5 years. At that point, youll still be over the...
  3. Victoria II

Thats the mod I use also. Without it, I couldnt have played my latest game. Its as good as a patch.
  4. Victoria II

And you let it happen  Thats one of the few wars worth Intervening in. If Britain annexes China, its fucking hard to beat their score before the end of the game.
  5. Victoria II

Would be cool, but I think their color just looks similar to Portugal's. Would be glad if it was, though, it would give me a chance to capture it without Infamy through a Portuguese "Place in the Sun" CB :D
  6. Victoria II

Well the default Russian "Alaska" region is split in two at game start. Its a little weird, but look at the 1836 map. The Eastern half of their territory has a land connection to this part, so I guess they could colonize beacause of that. Of course this makes no sense at all, because Russians...
  7. Victoria II

    1. Actually, they colonized the Yukon, but then Britain went to war against them, "British War for Russian Alaska" or some such. Since Yukon was a separate province, the Russians retained it after their defeat... 2. :D 3. Mini SCANDINAVIA! It lost wars to Russia and the North German Federation...
  8. Victoria II

Well I started this game with the goal of creating a powerful colonial Empire, and I guess I cant complain about the results. :D Its my most successful game to date. Playing 1.1 with the realism and rebalance mod. (Requires registration)... Ironic, as there isnt any too realistic about my...
  9. West Wing Alternate History: White House Chief of Staff - Toby Ziegler

I loved the West Wing. Would have never made Toby Chief of Staff, but its a cool POD nonetheless. Josh and C.J are both better choices IMO. But then again, we all know what they say about hindsight. Plus Toby really has his heart in the right place, it should count.
  10. Europa Universalis III

Luckily for me I have a pretty good (okay, ridiculously high-end, its an EE965) single-core box next to my quad-core box that I use mostly for Paradox games these days. It clocks about a Ghz higher than any multicore CPU once OC'd. I nicknamed it Clauswitz. :p Anyhow Im VERY happy about the...
  11. Victoria II

2G sure. I have 4G, but I run windows XP which doesnt really address more than 2G to any app, and the game runs fine. Highest Ive seen it use was 1.75Go, so technically, Id have been fine with 2G.
  12. The Congress of Prague, 1813

Sorry to necro, but I was googling the Congress of Prague quite unsuccessfully. I thought a compromise peace that sees a surviving Napoleonic France could have been a great starting point for a "Victoria II" mod. Napoleon II would be on the throne by 1836, and Id just have to redraw a few...
  13. Victoria II

I dont recommend trying. The early years might work, but the game would slow to a crawl later on. Maybe it wouldnt run at all. :(
  14. Victoria II

Dont hesitate to conquer places, just mind your badboy. You have to stay below the limit, but it still allows you large gains. For example, I begin often by conquering all of Egypt and annexing it within the first few years. Its a great start to build a colonial empire, very good location...
  15. Europa Universalis III

Undoubtedly he meant, which country does he play, in the screenshot.
  16. Victoria II

Then wait a patch or two... Paradox games are always a bit odd at release but they get much better
  17. Persia or Germania...which one is the most important for Rome...?

1 is better than 2, IMO. It creates a much stronger Roman core. In these times, distances mattered alot, and Persia is much further away than forests of Germania. #1 is likely to create more sentiment of "being Romans" where it matters, removing the threat of a Hun invasion. With Germania...
  18. Victoria II

Personally I put the game aside until patch 1.2, which wont be out this week, but should be out in September. The early years are okay mostly, but the mid to late game needs alot of work in many areas. I trust Paradox can patch this into shape (whereas I believed and still believe that HOI3 can...
  19. Victoria II

Hmm well the dynamics of the game change over time, so what year is it? Depending on the date, you might need to mobilize to beat another great power; the further in, the larger everyone's mobilisation pool becomes. Mexico is also stronger than most people expect. If its right at the beginning...
  20. Victoria II

In my game, it never was an issue because Prussia had annexed it and taken Shelswig on their own before I beat them up and forced their remnants into my sphere :) However I think if it has a North German majority, its treated like any other German minor by the unification events.
