Iiiinteresting. What caused the early union and federalisation (?; maybe this is just fracturing) of Lithuania and Poland?
  2. Map Thread V

 Awesome! I realise my last post in this thread was the same as this one, but there is very little else that I can say. I could nitpick about the borders of Lithuania, but I do not know about the Belarussian claims (or if there was any particular Belarussian nationalism at that time) on...

    Awesome!
  4. Map Thread V

Any particular reason why Anglo-Burgundy is called the Philippine Empire? Named after some Philip who united the two countries?
  5. A modest proposal -two map threads

Is a map that is created in several minutes in Paint, but showcases a great idea a "good" or a "bad" map? Also, what would you propose to do in the inevitable situation when a "bad" map is posted in the Portfolio thread? Delete that map? Not react? Criticise it as any other? What would be the...
  6. The Most important event of the Past Millenium?

Most events on that list would have happened sooner or later anyway. I voted for the one which I believe was the most unexpected - Genghis Khan. Of course, the most important event is not on the list. Why of course, it is the first mention of the name "Lithuania" in a written source :D
  7. A modest proposal -two map threads

Another idea to show off the best maps would be to create a collection where Definitely Awesome maps from the Map Thread would be reposted. This would be more objective than just a separate map thread for "better" mapmakers, but the selection process would require a dedicated person to do this.
  8. A modest proposal -two map threads

I am in general opposed to elitism of any kind, but I agree that something could be done to promote constructive criticism of maps. There is a number of alternate solutions to an "elitist" map thread though. Some that I can think of off the top of my head are: - A separate subforum for maps...
  9. ununited germany

In a rough scenario "Lithuania in the 19th century", I had considered that if by some chance there is a war between Prussia and France before 1850 or so, the industrial advantage of Prussia would not be enough to win, and after such a loss, the southern German states might end up in Austrian or...
  10. Map Thread V

As I said in your DA, Ampersand, - this leaves me speechless.
  11. Map Thread V

Space-Filling Empires abound :D While such a scenario may be possible, it probably requires an early PoD (early 20th century, maybe even 19th). This would most likely change the political climate of the world so much that any Commintern-based organisation would be far less recognisable than...
  12. Map Thread V

I see. Well, I will be waiting for more maps, this looks very interesting :) As for the eastern border of Lithuania, during the Commonwealth period, it varied somewhat, but was usually something like this or this. The border in your map looks far too similar to the eastern border of OTL...
  13. Map Thread V

Is this part of a series? If so, could you link to the previous maps? Pet peeve - with the PoD some time in the Early Modern Era, if not earlier, the OTL eastern border of Belarus would not exist.
  14. Map Thread V

Considering that Kaunas only became a significant city in the late 18th-early 19th century and Jelgava is in Latvia rather than Lithuania, you probably would :p Now, however, my nationalistic ego is rather delighted hearing that "Vilnius" sounds prettier than "Warsaw" :D Welcome to the board...
  15. Map Thread V

You made Vilnius the capital of Poland-Lithuania! You are oficially awesome :D
  16. Map Contest IV: Rules, Discussion, and Comments Thread

Tell me, Guderian's Beard, how do you always find such awesome pictures to place your maps in? :)
  17. Map making tips for n00bs....

This may not be the best place to put this, but I didn't find anything better and didn't want to start a new thread. I have written an essay about map making and how I go about doing this. While not exactly a tip for newbies, it may be an interesting read (then again, it may prove to be...
  18. Map Contest IV: Round V

Since I already won one round, I allowed myself a very... liberal interpretation of the topic here. So I hereby present - the Great Game of Middle-Earth. ;)
  19. Map Thread V

It is definitely a change making a simple map rather than anything detailed from time to time. A common AH topic is the Axis winning WW2. One can often see maps showing a complete Axis victory or a German (+ Italian) victory with Japan being defeated. I decided to go the other way around...
  20. Timeline for Brave New World

There are some tidbits of past history mentioned in the book. When I read it, I gathered that the Brave New World was a creation of several huge companies that desired to promote consumer lifestyle by any means necessary, so they did not hesitate to use terrorist tactics against the governments...
