  2. A different Thermopylae

There's only one Thermopylae! ;) One of two things might happen. The Persian fleet might punch through at Artemisium (I think??), and thus get at the Spartans' rear via the sea, or the Spartans hold out a few more days, get reinforcement, and the Persians retreat and bide their time to...
  3. Your region in Dies the Fire?

As a Virginian, good sah, I resent that!
  4. Map Thread II

So what exactly slowed down colonization ITTL? My guess is that because more of Europe was linked to the Mongol trade routes, and those who weren't were too busy keeping themselves defended from the various Mongol tributary states.
  5. WI Cortez and all his men are killed in 1520?

No! Not Cortex! In all seriousness, though, I'm sure some other Conquistador would pick up where Cortes left off...
  6. Map Thread II

I'm... not entirely sure I understand..?
  7. THE EMPIRE OF ROME

Do you know why IOTL there are generally never more than 1000 non-permenant residents on that whole continent even today? Prey tell, where do these Romans get their food? Or their warmth? Their fuel for keeping fires lit?
  8. THE EMPIRE OF ROME

  12. These Hills Sing of Saxon Kings

I suppose then the biggest question is how we might morph Englisc into "Modern Englisc". As in, what does "Ceaster" become after ~950 years, etc etc.
  13. These Hills Sing of Saxon Kings

Huh. That's an interesting idea. I kind of like it. But it may be too late, as it seems "wic" has dropped off by 1066.
  14. These Hills Sing of Saxon Kings

What does "-wic" mean? I've been wondering as to its necessity the entire time I've been writing... 'Denwick' is an alternate name for London? Do elaborate...

But of course! Such a railroad would be a boon to trade between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. And if a Cape-to-Cairo railway is developed, Mombassa easily becomes the economic heart and transportational hub of Africa.
  16. These Hills Sing of Saxon Kings

A LOT less Protestantism. Think Northern Germany and Scandinavia for the Old World, and a fair bit of the New World (Exiles, you see). I can probably put one together to go with the final update...
  17. These Hills Sing of Saxon Kings

Indeed it is. The most striking thing to me being that without a nascent Japanese Empire taking control of the rubber resources et al. in the East Indies, the development of local African industries has taken a much slower pace, thus staving off the economic requirements for decolonization...
  18. These Hills Sing of Saxon Kings

The huge bit is really just Portugese and Castilian colonial holdings, really. A bit awkward looking I suppose, but for the Empire's needs it suits them just fine. The Ethiopian religion has not suffered a bit, since it is a Protectorate, not an actual Imperial territory. However, I would...
  19. Annual Parliaments

I don't really know if its workable. Politicians already devote much time and money to campaigning to ensure their own re-election, and if they had to do it every year. At least politicians in America do. Not sure how your politicos over there do things... Aside from that however, politicians...
  20. Map Thread II

The Bryttisc Empire, the Imperial Federation, and all of their Associated States, 1950.
