  1. Twilight of the Valkyries: A 20 July Plot TL (Redux)

Lets face it, the plotters were unbearably naive and the most they were getting was "If you surrender we won't look at what you personally did earlier in the war." Anything else was wishful thinking at best.
  2. The Iron Age of Comics: Jim Shooter's Return to Marvel

Also the JSA was founded eighty years ago, the legacy aspect actually works even better now because they clearly aged out and the modern heroes replaced them (and its been stated occasionally there were heroes in between). Outside of the real cesspits conventional crime does seem lower in the...
  3. Why wasn't the Prague Spring used as an argument against Gun Control?

If nothing else the Czech's were virtually unarmed (it was supposed to be peaceful after all) and facing MBT's. Unless you legalised ATR's gun control liberalisation would have done nothing to change the outcome. In contrast the gun nut argument is mostly based on facing a gang or the cops who...
  4. The Iron Age of Comics: Jim Shooter's Return to Marvel

I'd rate it 40/60. Stargirl, his JSA work and Green Lantern were very important but there is so much turgid crap as well. Also Teen Titans which destroyed the characterisation of most of the YJ era heroes and tossed years of continuity for Johns not very good story. About the only good thing...

And now onto the next part, here is the American Meowcha a feline American institution for 150 years (and a real thorn in the side of the police and government for all of that time).

Ah crap! Spelling is not my strong suit (and obviously the correct one isn't in most spell checkers. I'll fix it in the article but the box will have to wait until I can get to a computer.
  7. Pop Culture Timelines Go-To Thread

Hard to say. The problem is that prior to Snow White no one had done it and then three of the next four Disney films failed to make (immediate) money. After the war feature length animation (as opposed to stitching short subjects together) looked dead until Cinderella came along in 1950...

What if our Cartoon heroes were actually mob bosses? Thomas Jasper Barbera was one of the twentieth centuries most notorious Cat criminals. Born in New York Thomas grew up on the streets and eventually became an employee of Meowcha boss Felix Sullivan at the age of 15 in 1924. During the rest...
  9. The Anglo/American - Nazi War - The on-going mystery

No worries we've all done that before.
  10. The Anglo/American - Nazi War - The on-going mystery

Nope, the NKVD (and the as OTL incompetent underfunded "programs" they ran) convinced the Nazi's it was impossible and they turned to bio or chemical weapons instead. By the time exposure to Allied nukes proved that assumption wrong it was to late to build any themselves.

There is a "resting place" listed, unless his immortality is due to Vampirism he probably shouldn't actually have a grave right?
  12. Unsafe Foundations. A British 1970s Timeline

Defeat after defeat, vote of no confidence. Our little junta tries to keep power by force, Lizzy personally tells the military, "Execute Order 66!" Well no but I assume she would use her position to get support for the sane parties to take over and then an emergency election.
  13. The Anglo/American - Nazi War - The on-going mystery

True very true. That would be very hard to do without being spotted (unless you don't test in which case your weapon is worse than useless) and being detected leads to a mushroom over your test site and rods on your capital three days later...
  14. The Anglo/American - Nazi War - The on-going mystery

No worries I should have been clearer. So closer to cold war France and their "leaving NATO command and standing alone? "We are an independent and strong state that stands alone," (every time there's a crisis), "our views on this agree with yours, we'll back your play, get 'em!" Also am I right...
  15. The Anglo/American - Nazi War - The on-going mystery

OTL Brazil level of development IIRC (became a third world country, sat in during the war and long after, now growing again decades later).
  16. The Anglo/American - Nazi War - The on-going mystery

Maybe a little less, they have all the bits its just figuring out how to put them together which would put them around 1941 USA. The major issue will be finding Uranium and refining it so I'd guess about five years. Although presumably with the very real risk of them mating missiles and bombs...

Now if they could just put a stop to that Saudi aggravated civil war they could build this in OTL, give Yemen a useful asset and actually start growing the places economy a bit. Sadly that's clearly not happening.

On the plus side, vigilantes are legalised, on the negative Bat's will need warrents, probable cause and a CSI team on standby in future. Although if he actually does that it puts him a jump or two above the average US cop.
  19. Unsafe Foundations. A British 1970s Timeline

Worst part is she herself should be disgusted by what the leadership has done. Whatever else she was she wasn't a Nazi and in any case she might be well positioned to take over the party when the government inevitably falls. I guess party loyalty trumped common sense?
  20. The Anglo/American - Nazi War - The on-going mystery

Helps they probably had vast amounts of evidence to use against them as well.
