    Thanks! Yeah, that’s what the source meant (that it was attempted a year before the successful one was started). Still, losing Vicksburg over a year earlier must be devastating to the Confederacy. I wonder what it would look like if they had lost Charleston and Vicksburg in ‘62.

    I’d say the best way for Japan to get Spanish Alaska is if they purchase it (along with the Philippines) in 1896/1897 when they each attempted to buy/sell, respectively. Right before the war, but late enough for Japan to be built up.
