Very interesting and very believable. The politics and everything fits right in with the other states. I have to ask though, why is electoral reform on the agenda? IOTL, only a small number of people really desire electoral reform, and they usually favour Hare-Clark STV like Tasmania and the ACT, which New Munster already has ITTL. What kind of reforms did Labor promise?

Thanks :)

In my head (always a dangerous place to be) the idea is that the North Island (New Ulster / Aotearoa) uses MMP, and so New Munster electoral reform is centred around a proportional system involving list seats, rather than the STV system currently in use.

Born into a poor working class family in Central Texas, Bonnie Parker had lost her father when she was only four years old. Having worked as a seamstress after her family's move to West Dallas, Parker began to feel alienated from the society she was part of. Her tendency to break the law was only exacerbated when she met and quickly married Roy Thornton, whose charm made her drop out of high school and turn to a life of crime. Their love was short-lived, however, and they would never cross paths again since her induction into the Barrow Gang.

In early 1930, Parker met Clyde Barrow at his friend's home, and both were immediately smitten. For the following two years, the couple would, as part of Barrow's own gang, commit numerous burglaries and stick-ups, living from the thrill and thrill alone, with their ultimate goal being the raid on Eastham Prison as revenge for Barrow's cruel treatment there (with reported sexual assault and abuse being a frequent occurrence for him).

Unfortunately for her, on April 19, 1932 Parker would be captured after a failed hardware store burglary along with Ralph Fults, one of her partners in crime. Barrow, on the other hand, continued with his escapades, completely unmoved by the capture of his lover. Only eleven days after Parker's arrest, Barrow would be fatally shot while being the getaway driver during a robbery in nearby Hillsboro. Thus, the unceremonious end of the Barrow Gang came. Parker, upon hearing of her loved one's death, broke down and completely isolated herself, only writing poetry during her short time behind bars.

Due to the grand jury being unable to indict her, she was acquitted and released from prison in June 1932. Right after her release, she swore to uphold her promise to Barrow, and she notified her mother that she would leave for New York in order to find a better way to put bread on the table for the family. Her mother reluctantly agreed. From then on, things become rather fuzzy regarding her exploits. Newspaper headlines dating back to June 1935 report that Jacques-Louis David's famous painting The Death of Socrates was stolen in the middle of the night from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, without anyone witnessing the culprit anywhere close to the crime scene. Only a couple days after the event, an interview with one of the purported witnesses reported a feminine figure crawling like a black cat on the rooftops of one of the buildings a couple blocks away from the Met.

Many journalists dubbed this appearance as the Catwoman's introduction to the seedy underbelly of New York City, and ever since, more and more daring burglaries had occurred, much to the chagrin of the Bat-Man and Thomas Dewey, who had attempted to quell the thieving woman's thirst for adventure and boldness, though to little success. Her identity, even to this day, remains a mystery few, if any will ever know...

If you have questions, feel free to ask.

Oh, and since this will come up, while LBJ does die in his second term, it's not OTL, but delayed until two years into his presidency. Maybe an eight year break would be better for his health.
President Ellen McCormack?????

So, uh, I get that this probably isn't supposed to necessarily be taken as a realistic election, but you have seriously underestimated how conservative/Republican the Eastern Shore of Maryland is. It would never be this blue, not in a million years, unless some serious demographic changes have taken place or the Democratic Party has become the conservative party.

Well, it's the sort of area Beach City is in in the show, and given how diverse it is and the fact they have a community of literal aliens who've settled there by the end of the show and the townsfolk are totally cool with it implies they're probably more progressive than OTL. Plus I basically just went with about a 5 point swing to the Dems from what Ben Cardin got in 2018, so it's not as huge a swing as it looks.

President Ellen McCormack?????
Sanford proves to be a relatively disappointing president to the liberal wing of the Democratic Party,so they opt to throw Sanford out in favor of someone new. Enter housewife Ellen McCormack who, while initially written off as a future perennial candidate hoping to get a book deal out of the whole experience, was able to galvanize the female vote and whip together a coalition of middle class, poor and mostly northern supporters through the primaries against more conservative opposition in the form of Sanford and John Connally. McCormack narrowly carries the a plurality on the first ballot at the DNC, resulting in eight more ballots until she obtains the needed majority for a nomination.

Presidential candidate Adolf Eichmann?
McCormack's more controversial decisions, besides authorizing the CIA to overthrow the government of India, devolving the nation into a bloody civil war, was the full pardon of Adolf Eichmann in 1977, assigning him secret service protection. Eichmann opts to try his hand at local governance, becoming the governor of Louisiana on the antiquated "Proud American" ticket in 1979. His governance is marked by democratic backsliding and more concentration of political power into the governor. He comes to blows over the McCormack's push for civil rights and runs for president in 1980. He merely hopes to send a thank you message to McCormack by assisting Fritz Hollings in taking back the increasingly reddened deep south, which he was able to accomplish. However, he has been derided in recent years as a spoliler candidate, arguing that Illinois and Michigan would have flipped to Hollings without Eichmann's presence on the ballot.

I was working on some backstory/worldbuilding for a personal project of mine when I decided to turn some of it into a Wiki page, more specifically a NetWiki page (my timeline's version of Wikipedia which looks suspiciously like someone just cropped out the side of the page and called it a day). Here's a W.I.P. snippet of what will (hopefully) be a full article:

The East India Company is a British multinational business conglomerate with activities in the transport, logistics, energy, pharmaceutical, agricultural and construction sectors. It is headquartered in Calcutta, Bengal, and is one of the largest public corporations in terms of revenue and market capitalization. It was founded in 1600 as an English (and later British) joint-stock company to trade in the Indian Ocean region and the East Indies. By the end of the 18th century, the Company had seized control of large parts of the Indian subcontinent, colonised Southeast Asia, and acquired Hong Kong after instigating the First Opium War. It came to account for half of the world's trade in basic commodities such as cotton, silk, spices, tea and opium. It's armed forces and government-like bureaucracy were nationalised in 1867 following the disastrous Third Opium War with Qing China, but it retained its trading houses and merchant fleet.

In the 20th century, the East India Company reoriented itself to become a logistics and transportation company. It pioneered intermodal transportation and containerisation in the 1930s, which forced it to build and operate its own container terminals outside of the East Indies. It also purchased articulated lorries in order to transport shipping containers overland. It also experimented with air freight after the Great War, and has become one of the largest carriers of air freight in the world. The East India Company reentered the agricultural and pharmaceutical industries by creating its Royal Agrifood subsidiary in 1977 and purchasing Kessler plc in 1985.

In 2028, it had a revenue of £290.25 billion, making it the 8th largest company by revenue. As a result of its broad portfolio, it has often been targeted by business anti-competitive investigators. It spun off its restaurant, railway, parcel delivery, passenger airline and heavy industry operations in 1993. It also has a large financial services arm, which manages financial risks in the commodity markets for the company. The East India Company has frequently been the subject of criticism related to the environment, human rights, finance, and other ethical considerations.

A founding member of the Justice Society of America, one of the original "Speedster"-type of hero, and one of the longest serving heroes in American history, Jason Peter “Jay” Garrick is the first in a line of Superheroes known as “The Flash”. Due to his unique speed-based powers, known as the “Speedforce,” his body is delayed in terms of aging, with Garrick claiming to feel “half his age” in 1999 (when he was 81).

Debuting in 1940, after a freak lab accident left him with ultra-fast reflexes, Garrick was one of the original heroes that formed the Justice Society of America, and later the All-Star Squadron (often acting as the messenger between the JSA and the government). In 1951, admitted anti-communist hysteria, and threats of government persecution against all superpowered “masked men” who would not register with the government, Garrick temporarily retired (the first of five retirements).

In 2019, after the death of his wife, Garrick announced he would be permanently retiring from both superhero duties, and as an instructor for the Justice Society. His seven decades of non-consecutive service is considered to be among the longest in US history.

I'm going to be honest.

Thomas Dewey as Two-Face is one of the most awesome and unique ideas that I've ever seen.

Thanks! It seemed like a match made in heaven when I did a bit of digging on Dewey's backstory pre-electoral politics. Kane and Finger simply had to have used at least bits of Dewey for their concept of Dent back in 1942.:)

RL Flashpoint, pt. 5

Born in England in the family of former Wayne family butler Jarvis Beagle, Alfred idolized the work of famed doctors of yore since an early age. Having signed up for the Royal Army in mid-1901, Alfred would contribute to the British war effort in the Second Boer War by serving as a medic, learning many intricacies of the human body and its treatment, both humane and otherwise.

During his stay there, his brothers in arms taught him the essentials of theater. Ever since, Beagle would be enamored with it. In spite of his relatively meager talents at the time, his bravery, determination and willingness to go behind the enemy lines on intelligence-collecting missions would soon endear him to the military head-honchos of the time. Upon his return from South Africa, Alfred would pursue theater further, even becoming a professional actor in London.

Nearing the end of the first decade of the twentieth century, Alfred would once again be invited by the British secret services to participate on data-collecting missions. Having been officially inducted into the SIS by the beginning of the 1910s, Beagle would assume numerous codenames to protect his identity. As such, he would become witness to the republican revolution in Portugal, the overthrow of the Qing dynasty and the unrest in Albania before the Great War.

However, after the initiation of hostilities between Germany and Britain, Beagle would be sent back to his homeland, where he would be assigned on many missions. Some believe that Beagle, under the name of Thaddeus Crane, had a brief affair with the infamous Mata Hari right before her execution by firing squad. Alfred, though, never directly denied nor confirmed the allegations. Thus, the Great War came to its end, but instead of victorious release, Beagle only felt sorrow, perhaps because of his late lover, perhaps because of his father being on his deathbed by the time Alfred had returned home. Jarvis, suffering from a fatal bout of the Spanish sickness, made Alfred promise that he, as his son and heir to his name would continue the tradition of becoming the Wayne family butler just like he had all those decades ago. Teary-eyed, Alfred upheld the promise.

Having changed his identity to Alfred Pennyworth for his own safety post-SIS, Alfred would be greeted warmly by Thomas and Martha Wayne, especially upon his excellent relationship with Bruce Wayne, Thomas and Martha's only son. As the trust between Thomas and Alfred was built, Pennyworth would be allowed to offer his own opinions regarding the Wayne Corporation's business decisions and Martha's valuable charity work.

After Bruce's death, though, things had changed. He unsuccessfully tried to restore Martha back to her old self, but much like his employer, he was ultimately unsuccessful. However, Alfred did manage to convince Thomas that lobotomizing Martha would be a cruel and unfitting punishment for a person he [Thomas] had loved so dearly, much to the latter's initial disagreement. During his first few months as the masked vigilante, Wayne refused to reveal his alter ego to Alfred, but like a true intelligence agent, Pennyworth had seen right through him. Ever since then, Alfred would act as a right-hand man and moral compass that would try with all his might to prevent the Bat-Man from falling off into the rotting bottomless pit that was New York City of the 1930s, to mixed success to say the least.
