Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has confirmed that Queen Elizabeth II has died in her sleep at home. Her heir Charles of Wales will become King Charles III. Hundreds of people have gathered at the Palace to mourn the Queen's passing and to pray for the new King as the country finds itself in a difficult time due to independence riots in Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
