1922 general election.
The 1919 had removed Lloyd George from government, as punishment for the loss of the war. Hence forth from 1920 to 1922 the prime minister was Bonar Law. He had not done a bad job, but he was hardly popular. The 1922 election was hence forth a three way fight between Labour, the conservatives and the pro-activists. Thanks to the loss of Northern Ireland there were 600 seats up for grabs.
Ex solders loyal to the proactivist had spent the past years involved in strike breaking, staged attacks on Labour Party campaign meetings. Labour - 188 Conservative- 181 Proactivist - 170 Liberal - 57 Other - 4 Dispite labour being the largest party, they could be deafeted. As a result King Edward VIII negotiated a collation between to consveratives and the pro-activists. Binary law continued to be pm. However the home office was given to John Notingwood and Beatty was made first lord of the admiralty.
