We appreciate your kind gesture, and are glad to have an ally to the North. We have done the kind act of conquering Silicon Valley and leaving Lake Tahoe, Reno, and Yosemite for you to enjoy. We have expanded more because we saw your comment on our straight borders, so we made them more interesting for you. Thank you for the letter, and we are a democracy, not a people's republic (commie)

The Federation of Galicia-Japan
After the collapse of the Roman Empire, the Roman Empire still survived in Galicia, which stayed there fighting off other countries until the native Galicians overthrew it in 1368, turning it into the Republic of Galicia. The Eastern portion of the country gained independence as the Republic of Leon-Castille, under the influence of Galicia. Galicia had much better human rights and wealth than many other countries at the time, with poverty being under 20%, much less than almost any country at the time. When the Age of Colonization started, Galicia was one of the most important nations, first grabbing the South Africa, North Madagascar, Punt-Yemen and numerous territories in the Indian Ocean. While other countries were colonising the Americas, Galicia focused on the Indian Ocean (even though it grabbed Florida, Tierra del Fuego, Massachusetts and North Venezuela). Ireland and Western Scotland were also grabbed from the English.
Galicia was the first nation to trade with the Japanese, being the world's richest country and all. Japan took liking to Galicia and allowed it to use it's country for trading. Galicia was mostly interested in ports as the land was mainly for the country's overpopulation. Japan also had problems with overpopulation, leading to it conquering much of South-East Asia and coastal China. Japan became dependent on Galician technology and riches and Galicia became dependent on Japan's massive population for its military to stop other powers from conquering colonies. Eventually in 1760 Japan and Galicia decided to unite as the Republic of Galicia-Japan. The Japanese Emperor agreed to step down as he said it would be "for the good of the nation". The massive country survived the First World War during the 1820s-1840s as well as the second (1890s-1920s), but fell apart in the 30s. It broke up into multiple countries until they decided to become one Federation with equal representation instead of being led by Galicia and Japan. In 1941 the modern Federation of Galicia-Japan came into being, keeping all the colonies as equal states.
The Republic of Leon-Castille is practically a puppet government of Galicia-Japan, completely under its influence. Today The Federation of Galicia-Japan is the richest country in the world due to trade and mining/oil as well as having one of the highest life expectancies, even though criticised for some recent military interventions in South Africa. The language is Galician (It was taught everywhere in the colonies and then Japan) and not Japanese as Japanese died out in the late 1700s and early 1800s (even though there is a movement to revive it). Due to strict prevention of church intervention, the country has been more than 80% atheist since the 1600s. It is a hub of technology and science and especially film, even inventing it in 1720.

I know its a big country, ignore the territories in Western USA/Canada. I have reasoning for it all and I left room for other countries.
Oof. You wouldn't mind if I started a few independence movements around Sakhalin and Kamchatka, would you? At least eventually? Had a few ideas there.

Also, that one poor dude's Baja country keeps getting baleeted.

Sure! The ethnic Russians maybe starting up a Stalinist/other genocidal communist regime in that area of Siberia. I had an idea for that, as it seems that on this website, there are a certain lack of genocidal communist regimes, only peaceful ones (which are quite unlikely).

Also, mainland Galicia (and their descendants)'s population are genetically 2/3 Italian, as when it was first founded as Roman Empire in-exile, the Romans who liked the government still moved to Galicia.

I said no colonies from now on, so you have to remove all land outside of Galicia and Japan

We could make things interesting and make the empire lose territory via wars/independence movements/etc. In addition to playing out for some of my own ideas, it would add a layer of lore to the map and give people something to go on if they desired. If you and @ThirdMan2005 agree.

I removed most land but I left the islands between Madagascar, the inclave in India, Taiwan/Hainan and part of Micronesia
The three first is becaue they are small and serve as link between Europe Rome and Japan Rome and Micronesia because its close enough its realistic

SRF.png Republic of Singaporia

An ex-colony of Galicia-Japan, the native people fought against what they always perceived as colonial master, gainning their precious independance after a short but hard earned series of battles. Already a vital and major port, as well as a bustling metropolis, the island-city of Singapor was chosen as capital but to symbolise the alliance between the Javanese and Malay provinces, it chose the name of the antic kingdom that controlled the strait of Malacca. Despite harkoning to an ancient dynasty, the country embraced democracy and chose to be a republic.
It is now part of the League of neutral nations (LNN) with the republic of Pacejo, the Republic of London, the Delian Confederation, the republic of Laurentia and the Republic of Central america.(the membership is open if you want to add new country but make sure that the backstory fit with the league ideals.)
The league was created by the republic of Pacejo to promote peace, stability and free flow of commerce in the world. For a country to join the league, they must be at peace with their neighbours, not harbour conflicts, not be part of any alliance as well as promoting freedom of commerce. The league have been known to send ''peace force'' to uphold stability to countries who desire it and promote peaceful resolution of conflict, often by proposing a neutral ground to host summit and negociations. Another important point is to not be part of any alliance in order to stay neutral and to not join any conflict. If they are attacked, the league members can count on their comrad to come to their aid.

I understand that it wanted independence, but Galicia-Japan was a bastion of human rights and in no way an oppressor. Maybe just write that it wanted independence and fought for it if you want a "heroic" start to the nation.

I was being hyperbolic as it was supposed to be from the point of view of the Singaporianese, but I will change it to avoid confusion

NWF.png Newydd Cymru

Colonized by Prydein, it was a convenient place where to dump petty criminal, debtors and troublesome peoples. It gave them a place where to start a new life, far from Prydein, and basically create a new market as well as proposing new goods to the motherland. With only a pretense of control, the colonies quickly oranized themselves and under the influence of radical political exilee, they mostly all adopted a parliamentary system, allowing the rich men to democratically run the affairs. Unfortunately for the natives, this system often meant that whatever promise had been granted by a precedent government could be overruled by the next one and with a constant flow of questionnable peoples who had been promised lands, the local parliament prefered conflict with the natives instead of the immigrants. However, the chaotic but (latter viewd as) romantic period of criminal turning gentlemen came to a close. Indeed, the rich propriator and industrialist wanted a say of who immigrated to their nicely organized little town and shire. This brought the ''fouding fathers'', representative of each colonial assembly, to come togheter to the first ''United Cymru parliamentary congress'' to draft a letter demanding to the king of Prydein the right to be represented in the kingdom parliament and having a say of who could immigrate in their colony. The king of Prydein answered back in negative and the united colonies declared their secession from the kingdom. Fearing a military response, they united in order to pool their ressources and soldiers in defense ''of the fatherlands''. But what they didn't know was that, while a contingent of soldiers had been prepared to take the colonies back, a war had errupted on the isles, forcing Prydein to postpone the invasion. The united colonies waited, arm in hands, for a year and half. While it is nicknamed ''
y rhyfel eistedd'' (the sitting war), the Newydd Cymru congress didn't stayed idle, they effectively turned disparate colonies into a single united country, reorganizing everything toward the new assembly. Once the war in Prydein was over, the king, realizing that the country was effectively broke, simply demanded reparation for ''illegally seized crown property'' in exchange of officializing the independance of the colonies. Newydd Cymru parliament was quite surprised by the answer but after tallying the overall reparations, it was decided that it would be less costly paying rather than risking an actual shooting war.
To this day, the ''Y rhyfel eistedd'' is the last war fought by Newydd Cymru, the country quiet history reflect in great regard its inhabitant motto: ''Os yw'n heddychlon, yna mae bywyd yn dda'' (If it's peaceful, then life is good).
