Story Ford Declared his candidacy for The Governor of Michigan in 1930. He campaigned on a pro-business attitude and criticism of the more interventionist Hoover Administration. He narrowly won the nomination. He later remarked: It was the hardest fought campaign in my life. He viciously attacked the Republicans, saying the reps had ruined and failed Michigan. The violent approach worked. He was elected to the Mansion with 54% of votes.
