Victory at Sea : Pacific announced.

A long time ago, I posted a thread about the game Victory at Sea, a RTS game about naval combat in WW2. Recently, the game's developers announced a sequel: Victory at Sea: Pacific. Its basically an Open World Real Time Strategy Sandbox game where you fight WW2 in the Pacific. No levels, no prearranged missions; you are fighting to win WW2.

More details to come.

Here's the launch video:

If mod compatible it can become epic/

Edit: or better than mod a ship designer included int the game.

A ship designer is highly unlikely but the developers did say they will make the game moddable (no details as of yet though).
Oh and there will be 120+ ships in the game so you'll have plenty of ships.

Let's hope. I'd like so see some ah plausible ship and aircraft in the game.

Whatever, it looks promising.

So all those stories of what the Japanese should have been doing with submarine warfare are going to now be done? Will there be a need for large numbers of NPCs to ship cargo across the Pacific to keep bases stockpiled, plus ships on the opposing side to try and torpedo them?

You can then get into the fun of playing the convoy escorts, dealing with an opponent who has unhackable comms (opposing U-boat force is using chat and Teamspeak instead of Purple or other Japanese codes to communicate).

So you could have a player who is an Admiral using their resources to set up a convoy to go across the Pacific to supply a base. Along the way there, he gets notified that Japanese subs have spotted the convoy and are attacking (and the attack is real-time). If that player belongs to a guild, they can notify their guild about the attack so others can jump into the convoy escorts to fight the Japanese, or if nobody is online the battle is played out with NPCs on the escorts vs PCs in the Japanese submarines

First of all VaS: Pacific is single player only; at launch, only the Allies will be available.

As for Convoys, This page from the official sites mentions:
  • Harass shipping and starve ports of vital supplies.
  • Defend your friendly convoys and keep your supply lines open.
  • Launch and command large squadrons of planes to attack targets as well as sending scout planes to hunt down enemy shipping.
  • Organise your supplies and keep your fleets afloat.
So supplies and logistics will be a crucial part of the game.

Recon will also be important; you do not want an enemy fleet slipping past your patrols to sink supply ships.

Nice this is a game i will get, i already played similar games like Pacific Fleet,Victory at Sea of course and others.

Evil Twin Artworks just put up their first VaS: Pacific gameplay video! Watch it here.
The developers just posted a second video as a followup to the first; click the link I posted previously and you will find a link to the second video.
From the vids, the game looks much more polished than the first.
