Peshawar Lancers Redux: Kingdom of Hawaii Revised

Well we are now approaching the time of The Fall>The Nation was still getting used to the new King Kamehameha IV and mourning the passing of the previous one Hawaii had changed a great deal. Its healthcare was one of the best in the Pacific and Honolulu had become a well redesigned city. The Royal Hawaiian Navy had two British built Coastal defense warships and at least 6 smaller ex British Warships. It also had two ex Confederate warships serving in its navy. The country had a Naval and Military academy. The literacy rate in Hawaii was very high.

William Kamehameha was still attempting to complete his college degree. He had joined the Royal Hawaiian Constabulary and had shown great aptitude as a police office. In fact he had been transferred to the investigation side of the department. He had been promoted to Detective Sergeant having helped to solve a robbery case. Despite his youth he was well respected by his superiors. He was called to the Office of the Prime Minister to investigate a matter for the Prime Minister's office and happen to have had a conversation with the Prime Minister and latter the Foreign Minister Charles Bishop

Office of the Prime Minister Honolulu , Hawaii The Prime Minister was informed that the Minister of Military Affairs and the Foreign Minister were here to see him on an urgent matter. He got up and invited them in. Both men had a somber expression on their faces and he feared that something may have happen to the King but Charles Bishop spoke up informing him that according to reports received from London and Maryland the Earth had been hit by meteors . The American Capital had been destroyed and there had been impacts in France, Russia and the rest of Europe. There had been further impacts in North America and in Asia. The Prime Minister was stunned and Charles went on to say that a wall of water appeared to be heading toward the US and Portugal.
The Prime Minister said to the Minister of Military Affairs how ready was the Military to respond. He was informed that he had put the engineers on alert and had activated at least three combat units. The Prime Minister ordered the Navy to dispatch a task force to Namur and prepare to defend the Island.

Walter Gibson And Charles Bishop arrived at the palace to brief the King on the terrible events. They were joined by the Commissioner of Police and the Attorney General. The King summoned his brother and the Queen to the meeting. He was horrified at the events and the destruction which was taken place. Word had come that the British Ambassador had died of a heart attack. The British Embassy had very few people and was sure to be undermanned for some time.

The Next day the King and Queen attended Mass . There were some who felt the end of the world had come but latter that day the King issues a statement to the Press and to the people of the Hawaiian Islands. People of Hawaii the Lord has challenged his people but the End has not come. Instead he has challenged us to come to the aid of his people. Hawaii will met the Challenge and will seek to help those who have suffered more. Do not panic the Government of Hawaii can assure you that there has been no damage here. May God continue to bless his people and these island King Kamehameha IV

Some whaling ships returned and reported that things were bad up north. It was showing fiercest up there.

Canadian officials on Vancouver were appealing to other members of the Empire to help assist in the evacuation of Canada. In some parts of Canada the weather had begun to change as a result of The Fall. A major effort was being made to keep the railroad running to the west. The ocean current was helping to keep the temperature on Vancouver from falling too far. In Hawaii a warship left with three passenger ships and three freighters. The Freighters were bearing supplies including food and medicine and were expected to pick up good in Canada as well as taking Passengers. The three passenger ships were expected to take on as many people as could be loaded aboard them. Plans were to carry out as many runs as possible between Hawaii and Vancouver. The Royal Hawaiian Army had set up a facility to handle at least 50,000 refugees. Hawaii could take some of the flow of refugees but more were expected to continue to sail on to New Zealand and Australia.

The Hawaiian Warship would land a detachment of Marines to assist the Canadian authorities in maintaining order. Meanwhile the Canadians were continuing to keep the coal and iron ore mines active and were increasing the effort to improve the Islands ability to supply heat and electricity.. Electricity was new and a lot of heating was provided by gas. Lt Commander Thompkins of the RHN was ashore monitoring ships coming and going. They were using the telgraph line underwater to Hawaii to find out what ships had left. Five Whalers had been cleaned and given a quick overhaul to allow them the transport people from Canada to Hawaii.

The Hawaiians were sending ships to Canada as fast as they could be off loaded in Hawaii. At least two passenger ships were leaving from Honolulu to Australia bearing Canadian citizens to that land and it was expected that there would be ships carrying more of them for months to come. The Hawaiians were also buying up iro ore and other ores as well as machinery and tools. Martial Law had been proclaimed in Canada as the weather continued to worse. labors worked hard to insure that the railroad line continued to remain open but things were so bad in the east that people were fleeing southward into the US. conditions there were little better as the east coast had been devastated by tidal waves nearly 100 feet high.
The evacuation of the British population from the Home islands continued to absorb massive amounts of resources. Machine tools were also shipped to India and South Africa.

The Great migration had begun in Europe as the population moved from the North to the more inhabitable southern portion of Europe. The German and Austrian Empires had joined forces to push southward forcing the Turks out of Europe and there was an occupation of Asia Minor.

Honolulu: King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma met with the refugees from Canada. He had insured that they had shelter.medical care and food and clothing. Several thousand were being processed for permanent stay in Hawaii while others would continue on to Australia of New Zealand At least 1 passenger ship was arriving each week to take people to either of the two Commonwealth Nations. Both Australia and New Zealand had sent officals to help process the refugees and they were using the British Embassy. The British Embassy was undermanned. There were only a Consular official and three other staff there and no one knew when the British Government would have the time to send a replacement. The evacuation from Europe had a priority/

Prime Minister Walter Gibson had the Army;s engineers strengthen areas along the coast against possible flooding. Hawaii's temperature was slightly cooler but it appeared that the islands would not be hit by the massive temperature plunge that was effectin Europe, North America and parts of Asia. North Africa had also seen changes. Hawaii was trading with Chile for ore and it had made contact with Brazil.
It quickly became clear that Walter Gibson and Charles Bishop would play a major role in the future of Hawaii. Charles Bishop took a keen interest in a young police officer named William Kamehameha. . The detective Sergeant was already on a path to Detective Inspector and Mr Bishop wanted to borrow him to form the new Royal Hawaiian Intelligence Agency.

William Kamehameha and a team lead by him traveled to the Central American Republic. The team included diplomats, who would handle a trade deal while William and his team of police and military engineers would look at the possibility of a canal through the Republic. They were also to gather more information about the impact of the Fall on the region.

Hawaii now had diplomatic representation in Australia and New Zealand and it was expected that an embassy would be open in India , where the British Government was relocating to. Hawaii's shipbuilding industry was just begin but it was clear that Hawaii's security would depend upon its control of the seas. Hawaii was even more dependent upon the importation of raw materials. It was expected that perhaps as many as 80.000 Canadians might apply to become Hawaiian citizen. The two Political parties were reshaping themselves. The Reform Party lead by Standford Dole was emerging as the Liberal Party while the Nationalist Party emerged as the National Conservative Party pro-monarchy and a proponent of a Greater Hawaii.

Two whaling ships were under charter to the Royal Hawaiian Navy. They were headed to Alaska to evacuate some Americans and to get recordings on the weather changes. Meanwhile the Canadian evacuation continued. Detective Inspector William Kamehameha met with a British Naval officer from a ship based in Jamaica . He received an update on conditions on the island , the Caribbean and the United States. He in turn made arrangements to set up a meeting between officials of Hawaii and the Crown Colony.
