Guys you are forgeting the imperial navy,wich very suceffully blockaded argentina for ages,the imperial army was proposefull underfunded but that was not the case of the navy.

Quite frankly,an Uruguay in Argentinian hands means a heel lot of wars betwen Argentina or Brazil,is way too instable. You can have an independant Uruguay or a Brazilian Cisplatina,any other option is a no go for Brazil.
