Why on an ALTERNATE REALITY website people insist on writing it couldn't happen because IN THIS WORLD OR OTL. Jesus H, we're writing or reading about things that didn't happen but could.
Why couldn't the USA fire the first shot, Because some ships captain was mad at someone for something and...
Since I'm not a stickiler for exact military history (which is funny because I like to read ALTERNATE HISTORY) I find his books entertaining. Just read Red Inferno (from the library) and waiting for Himmlers War to become availble and sent from down state. We have great libraries in Delaware.
First to me, Alternate History means thiings happen differently.
Secondly I'm not a writer.
My conjecture is that during the Battle of Bull Run the Confederate Armies stayed organized during and after the battle and were able to press their advantage.
Jacksons forces were able to chase...
I'm not trying to be a nudge. But I still can't understand how people look at alternate history on this board.
Many people offer PODs that are accepted while others aren't. (AN EXAMPLE ONLY) If I had a story were Pierce was against the Kansas-Nebraska Act or he didn't issue the Ostend...
The German had Operation Pastorious which was supposed to have agents in America cause havoc. It failed from the very beginning.
What effect would it have had if it was successful?
I haven't read the whole thread because I couldn't get past the first page. On the issue of the Trent Affiar. I'm not a historian but I am a bullshitter, or salesmen as its commonly known.
People get other people to think the way they want all the time. If not I would never have sex...and yes...
I was watching a Coldcare eposide about the Japanese internment. One of the prisoners mentoined to a guard named Shultz how would he feel if the roles were switched.
What would bring on an internment of the German population in America?
I wrote (am writing) a story were the Indians (native americans) became more developed by interaction with the norse up north. There was actual nations when the first "white" men landed in the Caribbean, They ended up sailing to Africa and settling several areas and either uniting to conquering...
1000 – 1100 The first Golden Era for the Confederation. There was exploration by sea along the coast to the Florida Peninsula and the Great Lakes to Superior. Mining in Canada produces metals for weapons and tools. Fishing off the coast and in the on the great lakes as well as abundant farming...
I'm working on something like that. It started out as a way for the Native American's to defeat colonization but finding that alot more needs to happen and one is a very advanced society. My POD is 760 when the Norse have a colony on Long Island as well as Greenland and Nova Scotia. This happens...
I realized that I really didn't touch on the Nova Scotia Norse as it didn't fit in what I was trying to do, plus I'm not that good....yet. It is a bothersome hole.
This is the first part of the timeline. I’ve named it the Perfect Society. There will never be a perfect society but I liked the name. This is my first serious attempt at this. I have not used any native amerian names for places or names for better understanding of the story.
Feedback is...
Okay I'm kind of new to this but my question is Jared's story pretty much change the whole history of Australia with one plant, Yams. Why couldn't it be done with pigs in North America?
Lets say the Norse colony of Greeneland started in 780 instead of 980 travel south to say...Nova Scotia or...
Maybe domesticated was the wrong term.
I'm looking at a food animal. I know alot of todays animals were bought over. I'm thinking something like Maybe pigs or chickens were already here to be used. Or maybe even catching migrating ducks and clipping thier wings to use for eggs and meat.
