  1. President Truman runs and wins reelection in 1952

It is possible that Eisenhower's time as President exacerbated his health issues, and that in an ATL where he was not President his health would have held up to 1956. Not certain, but possible. Being President can be very stressful. Yes, I think it could have helped substantially.
  2. Can Nazi Germany invade Switzerland?

Definitely. There is little doubt in my mind that if Nazi Germany were given sufficient reason to ignore losses Switzerland would eventually find itself under the Nazi heel, perhaps for quite some time. Would it prove bloody? Yes, of course. Perhaps not as bloody as the Swiss would hope, but...
  3. Poland and Czechoslovakia vs. Germany, 1938

You'd probably need a decent POD to get Poland and Czechoslovakia to work alongside each other, let alone have a concerted war effort, but I would hesitate to call it ASB.
  4. Best case scenario for the Paris Commune

Somehow gain the allegiance of some faction in the military, stir up large resentful mobs throughout the rest of France, while somehow managing to run into a large amount of money... or perhaps money first, then mobs, then soldiers... or money first then soldiers, then mobs. Then through a...
  5. Cato's Cavalry

It has taken me a little while, but I've managed to reread the TL and I really enjoyed it! Great work Cymreag!
  6. President Truman runs and wins reelection in 1952

There's little chance of Truman being able to stand up to Eisenhower's popularity. However, going up against Taft or Warren would probably prove a lot easier if there was a good POD that turned up Truman's popular support. Maybe a lack of a scandal in the Internal Revenue Bureau, a minor but...
  7. President Truman runs and wins reelection in 1952

However difficult it might be for Truman to get reelected again, the truth is that it is far and away form impossible. It is not ASB. Besides, the OP doesn't ask what's necessary for Truman to run and win reelection. It asks what would happen if he did. I believe that Eisenhower, had his...
  8. Decision Points: The Presidency of Al Gore

Quick question, I've never really kept track of all of Edwards's issues, so taking into account the POD in the 2000's, which of John Edwards's scandals might be avoided? And which likely happened anyway?
  9. WI: Andrew Jackson dies at Horseshoe Bend

Do you think there might be no trail of tears with say Clay or Adams in the presidency? I wonder what effect the 'Five Civilized Tribes' will have on the US given a president that might be more inclined to agree with the Supreme Court.
  10. WI: Andrew Jackson dies at Horseshoe Bend

I was wondering what the effects of Jackson's early death would be. Lets say he dies mid battle, and the Creek War continues longer than OTL. What does the US look like without Jackson's presidency, and more immediately without Jackson at New Orleans?
  11. Jutland seen as German rather than Scandinavian?

If the Prussian-Swedes took Jutland would it be more likely to identify as German or Scandinavian?
  12. AHC: Keep the 2nd Mexican Empire alive

Maximilian, too liberal for the conservatives, but too imperialist for the liberals. He'll be in a delicate situation for quite some time, and it would be best if he avoided alienating any supporters that he could possibly gain. His pandering to the poor and indigenous was indeed well received...
  13. WI: A Loss at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend

Junaluska, allied Cherokee leader, has actually been said to have saved Jackson's life during the battle of Horseshoe Bend. Junaluska doesn't have to turn on Jackson... What if he just lets Jackson die? What if Jackson had died in the battle? Or even more extreme yet, What if the Cherokee...
  14. WI: A Loss at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend

Nothing totally overt, perhaps a failure of Coffee to cross the river in time to surround the Red Stick encampment and aide Jacksons forces, combined with poor battle communications leading to disorganized bayonet charge against the Red Stick fortifications. Repulsed Jackson is forced to fall...
  15. WI: A Loss at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend

The Battle of Horseshoe Bend (March 1814) was the final major battle in the Creek War, in which Andrew Jackson and his Native American allies achieved a key victory over the Red Sticks, forcing the Red Sticks to cede large parts of Alabama where they lived. However, had Andrew Jackson lost, the...
