  1. Shadows in the East

I wanted to let everybody know that this is end of Shadows in the East at Ah.com. Future updates can be found at Alternia or in the coming days (as I get it started up there) at SHWI. That's it everybody. Glad you liked what there was, and hopefully Matt (my newly appointed...
  2. Shadows in the East

Thanks. The changes are occuring in America primarily because of my various beliefs in the butterfly effect, etc. Other places are changing around the globe, but since A)I don't know much about them and B)I haven't gotten around to it in lieu of the juicier bits about Europe and America. By...
  3. Shadows in the East

Chapter XXIV: Sense and Sensibility "The business of war is very tiresome."- attributed to William Pitt the Younger ---- Excerpted from "The Bloody Mountain" by Philip Jackson, Harvest Printers, San Francisco© 1942; pg 233-4 As France's armies stood triumphant at every corner...
  4. Shadows in the East

As to the Commerce Clause, I have no comment. You will find out.
  5. Shadows in the East

I used a slightly modified version of the original draft. The original draft read as it does here, with an exemption for religious people, i.e. Quakers. The Founding Fathers believed that it might be used to crush the militias in the future as had been done in Britain, so they eventually...
  6. What if France wins Franco Prussian War

Not quite ludicrous, but that depends. If you really want to get people going on this board, you can bring up the Butterfly effect. Which I am now. The sides make some kind of sense, but it's unlikely that Princip will still assassinate Franz in 1914 given a Point of Departure (POD) in 1871...
  7. Shadows in the East

There is a small change to the 1st, a significant change to the 2nd, and a decently large change to the 9th....
  8. Shadows in the East

Chapter XXIII: Democracy in America "Even to observe neutrality you must have a strong government."- Alexander Hamilton ---- Excerpted from "The Fountainhead of Liberty: The Drafting of the United States' Constitution" by Rick Jarvis, J. Albert and Sons, New York © 1888; pg 30, 60...
  9. Shadows in the East

I'm terrible with maps. I'm attempting ot make one, and when I do I'll post it. As you can tell, I've borrowed heavily from Jared's DoD. I think the style works incredibly well. I'm attempting to start integrating more historical perspectives into the work so that you never QUITE...
  10. Shadows in the East

Well, I can't let Matt do all the work of ferrying compliments, complaints, and comments to me over at the other boards it's posted on. So.... Glad you guys seem to be enjoying it though.
  11. Shadows in the East

This is true. We shall see what lies in store for La Fayette and the Revolution...
  12. What if Truman had used A bomb in Korea?

A reunified Korea. That's about it. At least some evidence indicates Stalin didn't want a confrontation over Korea, and was quite surprised by our response. Mao is firmly in China. The Commies aren't going ot just collapse. We take all of Korea, sign a peace with the Chinese, and life...
  13. Byzantium-wank Map Challenge

A genetic plague that strangely effects only Semitic, Finn, Ugric, Magyar, Slavic, English, Irish, German, French, Italian, Sicilian, Spanish, Portugese, Basque, Catalan, Persian, Dravidan, Tamil, Gujarati, Hindi, Urdu, Bantu, Turkic and various other peoples around the world, excepting most...
  14. Justinian's empire

I'll take corruption over bankruptcy, internal strife, financing the rebuilding of the Sassanian Empire, the squandering of thousands of soldiers on mostly pointless wars, and the rest of the idiotic things he did that ruined the empire.
  15. Justinian's empire

I hate Justinian. The man is the most overrated egomaniac in the Middle Ages. In truth, he was quite possibly THE WORST Emperor in Roman History. He lacked foresight, fiscal acument, and strategic thought. A terrible combination that more than any other man, ruined the Empire.
