    King Theodore's Corsica

Thank you! As others have already said, a Corsica which "acquires" Italy or even Sardinia really isn't Corsica anymore. Even inheriting smaller principalities on the peninsula through the female line like Piombino would really only be useful to be traded away for more desired (and...

    King Theodore's Corsica

He's like the Star Trek III: The Search for Spock of Corsican monarchs ;) It is fun to see him attempting to follow the Prussian model of building his reputation by (trying to) conquer new territory, even though he knows how badly it ended for Old Fritz. All right, for fun, here's my outline...

    King Theodore's Corsica

A fictionalized Pianosa is famous as the setting of Catch-22, although Heller noted that the actual island was too small to be suitable for all the action described. Heller actually served during WWII in none other than Corsica itself. Pianosa is almost tailor-made to be part of a dowry - no...

    The last Hanover

What a delightful TL idea! I'm sorry I didn't notice it sooner. A few thoughts: Princess Alexandrina Victoria of Kent is the Heiress Presumptive at this point ITTL and so her marriage will, I'm sure, be the subject of some attention - especially since she's a year older than Elizabeth II. Of...

    That Wacky Redhead

Sorry to anyone who might have been expecting a repeat of last year's April Fools post, but sadly the circumstances were not conducive. My congratulations to @zomfies for reading through the whole thread - all 241 pages - even though I went to the trouble of creating all these threadmarks just...

This one's a lot of fun, and you can't expect it to pass without me commenting on it: 1936 - Lang, presumably, is the earliest on this list of many directors who do not leave Germany for Hollywood. 1938 - Riefenstahl gets to make her masterpiece during the height of her career, undistracted by...

The only one she got along with was Nicholas Colasanto, who played Coach (and died 2 1/2 years in). Ted Danson is very diplomatic and gentlemanly about it in retrospect but I suspect it was probably a case of him respecting her great talents as an actress whilst disliking her personally (not a...

Now, granted, IOTL the Marvel acquisition turned out to be the opening salvo in what became Disney turning into Pac-Man, but acquiring Marvel made a lot of good sense at the time. Disney was very strongly perceived as lacking appeal for boys and young men, and that's what buying Marvel was...

Good to learn more about the mysterious Borealia! A few concerns strike me about it, though, which I will share... Why is Edmonton the capital? Edmonton is already the capital of the province of Alberta, which was decided in 1905 (before the POD). Logically the federal capital would be a...

A great map, it's a clever idea to make a "World Democracy Index". My question is, what is the status of Kamerun? I can't help but notice it's none of the nine colours in the key. Civil war? Multiple recognized governments claiming the same territory?

    King Theodore's Corsica

I think it's because there's that lingering sense of determinism that Italian nationalism will still emerge as it did IOTL, even without He Who Must Not Be Named, and that it will successfully create an Italian nation-state which will subsume a Corsica that is not occupied by France. And if so...

He's from the Delmarva Peninsula, according to his profile, which is in the Eastern Time Zone. He definitely uploads first thing in the morning though, even by that time zone's standards.

Carrie Fisher becoming a real Princess is straight out of the MaskedPickle playbook, and it was a lot of fun to read, too!

Great to see Monaco restored to its pre-1861 borders! Interesting to see that although it's greatly enlarged in land area (roughly 12 times the size) the population increase isn't proportionate (only about doubled).
