Maybe maybe not.From what I understand the limiting factor wasn t money so much as slips large enough to take capital ships.

It's basically the left hand not being co-ordinated with the right hand in all cases even with different results.

Not consulting the rest of the designers on a project is not unique to the Kriegsmarine.Think Hunt class destroyers and the Iowa's turret rings.

Wasn t the torpedo at Ark Royal set at a deeper depth and struck her while she was turning thereby not hitting the TDS,and taking out her internal communications.......basically three strikes and you're out bad luck.

Indomitable survived a torpedo hit and i assume her TDS was very similar to Ark Royals,just depends where the ship gets hit.

From what i understand Ark Royal was hit below the TD system as she was turning.The rest were all WW1 designs or small carriers. Illustrious class elevators weren t armored and most of the hits missed the hanger armor. Good damage control and being anal about avgas probably had a significant...
