Ah. So NYC is mostly wealthy?

Oh and should it be DCB and NEB?

NEB should have been, but D.C. is still just D.C.

Dat population movement. Good to see the center of the earth-bound 50 US is in the Midwest where it belongs. ;)

Just as the good lord intended it.

But seriously though, what caused such a massive shift from the south, east and California to the Midwest?

Global warming, I believe.

Yeah, there was some rising sea level issues that pushed people inward a bit. Things have lowered, but people have decided they like where they are.

Anyway, here's the Nearside Commonwealth on Luna, Winstead's home commonwealth. Thurman got lots of union support in the north and south, from mill and factory workers in the north and miners towards the south. Thurman won Makunari in the west (33 EV) by less than 50,000 votes so a small swing could have given that to Winstead and a majority in Nearside's electoral college. Winstead's support across the central states came primarily from middle class suburban commuters, farm managers and rural tsukagis (really the only significant alien vote that goes Republican). Winstead did a bit better than previous Republicans here, but the unions managed to increase turnout.

This moon is much cooler than our own moon.

AJND universe always amuses me a lot because it's like the whole solar-system sword-and-planet settings, which were good even at their pulpiest.

In reality, how does the Terra Commonwealth operate? Weaker than the states?

In reality, the Terrestrial Commonwealth has ceded all government functions to the federal government in an ex officio capacity.

And I saw you change the pic for Thurman again. I wonder why...

Thanks! It's been lots of fun writing it all.

Greetings. I come with something a bit different. You know that I do Rosalian elections, right? Well, as we come closer to the day when I plan to release the actual story, I've decided to give you something a bit different to show you how the politics of Rosalia and its provinces are different.

And to show you that, I've chosen the most politically different province (apart from the Aquanice Commonwealth, which would require a lot of pic-seeking!). Thalcel is a sort of Catalonia-analogue, except that the nationalists do not ask for independence, but rather become part of another country, Verusa. If the name of Verusa sound familiar, than it's probably because it is Noravea's country.

Here's what the parties are... Bold are parties that formed the new government. The government before the election was a SDP-RepLab minority.

Convergence: Thalcel regionalism, Verusan nationalism, Broad-tent, tends centre-right. NATIONALIST.
Social Democratic: Social democracy. Centre-left. Branch of the federal PSD. UNIONIST.
Conservative: Liberal-conservatism. Centre-right. Branch of the federal PC. UNIONIST.
Imperial Union: Pan-Verusan nationalism, re-unificationist. Centre-right-to-right-wing. NATIONALIST.
Republican Labour: Verusan nationalism, democratic socialism. Left-wing. NATIONALIST.
Citizens': Centrist populism, anti-separatism. Centrist (with centre-left and centre-right factions). UNIONIST.

And the election box itself!

Wow. That's a pretty lefty America. And I guess Upton Sinclair is the FDR of this world, President from 1933 to his death in 1968, just after winning re-election? ;)

The working POD is that there's a 3-way split in the Democrats in 1912, and LaFollete also goes for Debs in that election, Teddy's elected in that election, gradually the Socialists and Progressive become the two main political parties. And, yes, Sinclair is able to make America basically market socialist via his EPIC plan, after serving for nearly 36 years, He's the longest serving President ever, and he's idolized by the American public. He's also glorified to a near-godlike state by Socialists, along with Eugene Debs.

Wow. Is there any movement to the right at all?

Uhg, I despise both Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparianon on almost every single level. To me The Young Turks is the left-wing version of Fox News, maybe even worse.

But hey, your wikibox, your America.
