Mexico still has possession of it. But after the Grapple, its under American-occupation.
Im doing a europe map to and the question is what about Malta is it still british or is it Italian or something else?
Has anyone ever considered doing a more plausible version of the CSA Victory timeline?

Here's what I think the future for timeline 191 will be like
North America 2007
Quebec is given some Canadian lands the rest becomes part of the US along with most of Dixie.

what? why would they leave Florida un-annexed if they are taking the rest of Dixie?

Nah, If Turtledove follows the Holocaust analog then the blacks should go to Liberia.
Didn't they already go there? Hence the lower numbers of blacks in the North?
No a small All Black Nation in the Midst of the South would be a fitting attempt to copy TTL history. Some place right smack in the middle of the old CSA and one that would cause the Rebs a major bit of soreness and redirecting their anger from the US to the Black Nation.
I think it's an impossibility at this point to completely take over the CSA, too many differences, too much national identities formed.
Well I guess all we can do is guess.
I suspect that Texas, the Sonoara and Chihuahuawhatever, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee and maybe Virginia would be brought back into the fold, the rest a rump state reunited later with the US, as per the Germany.
Although the USA taking all of the CSA would allow for analogues of the Reconstruction and Soviet control in Eastern Europe...

given the choice between the howling tundra of Canada and the CSA, perhaps the US releases Canada under the same sort of satellite state?
I was wondering if Canada might be that TL's analogue to Central Asia, or the Caucasus, perhaps even the Baltic States?
Possibly....at the moment, Canada seems to be a gigantic version of Northern Ireland during the troubles....between the descendents of the Patriots and Loyalists in this world.
In any case, the USA keeps New Caledonia (you think they'd have renamed British Columbia, right?)
which means that, should the analogue continue, that the USA will turn into the American Federation some time in the early 90's once the Socialists are kicked out of power.
That raises another question. Why dont the Confederates scream black and blue about a (albiet rather weak ideologicly) Socialist state above them?
