WI certain movies not made

How would hist been affected had certain movies not been made ? This thread is similar to the ALTERNATEHISTORY.COM contribution re certain books not being written.

No BIRTH OF A NATION- would there have been a resurgence of the KKK during WWI ?

No APOCALYPSE NOW- lesser portrayal of VW as insane hell fought by drug addicts ?

No GLORY- no awareness among wider society of role of blacks in ACW ?

No BLACKHAWK DOWN- lack of public awareness of US military intervention in Somalia + lesser appreciation of US special operations missions necessary in response to Sept 11th ?

Anybody else got any contributions ?

no STAR WARS, less advanced special effects
no BREAKER MORANT, less anti-britishers among the australians

hmm have to get back to this

Saving Private Ryan: directors of war movies don't have urge to start movie with massive, bloody fight scene

The Matrix: Directors don't have urge to stick "flying" scenes into every movie and comercials. And I have different screen saver. ;)

No Gone With the wind-Less reinforcement of the false belief that the white south was a victim in the Civil War

No Roots-- even less awareness on the part of whites about the history of African-Americans in the US

No Alien- SciFi/Horror never develops a really brutal dark side on screen

No Star Trek II the Wrath of Khan-No Star Treks 3-10, The Next Generation,DS9,Voyager and Enterprise which would really suck ass.

Scream: Slasher movies don't get their revival in late 1990s. Not necessary a bad thing. Altough Neve Campbell doesn't get her chance. Which would be a bad thing.

Did "Birth of a Nation" really lead to a resurgence of KKK activity all on it's own? I always thought it was a symptom, not the cause...
No "Jurassic Park"... CGI used more for mechanical things (as in T2) instead of creating living things?

Straha

no reefer madness movie is a good POD for making it so that we never see any attempt of a drug war.

If Saving Private Ryan is not made then you don't get the trend of realistic war movies. WWII movies don't make a comeback.

No GODFATHER - Less sentimental portrayal of the mafia as family-loving ethnics.

No SILENCE OF THE LAMBS - Serial killer as debonair, Nietzschean genius less of a cultural trope.

No 1964 LOLITA - I'll go out on a bit of a limb here and say that the word "Lolita" does not become quite the staple of porn and sex-talk that it's become in OTL. I realize the film isn't all that erotic, but it probably contributed somewhat to the popularization of the term, relative to a time-line where only the book exists.

Sticking with Kubrick...

No SHINING - Over-the-top, wild-eyed maniac is just one role in the Nicholson repertoire(mostly based on Cuckoo's Nest), not his signature character.

no bad grammar there is from movie

wasn't this 'bullet time' thing inspired by the movie Akira, directed by Otomo Katsuhiro. so this kind of scenes might surface from somewhere else

Sounds interesting, you should develop this TL a bit more.

You were officially warned on 1/1/16 NOT to necro long dead threads, especially with a one liner.

Lets see if this communicates the idea:

Kicked for a week.

You REALLY don't want to be the first person sent to Conventry for Necro.
