TL-191: After the End

China...?

David, I was wondering what exactly China looks like as of 1965? Assuming of course that the Xinhai Revolution takes place in TL 191 on the trajectory of OTL. Is unoccupied China fragmented at this point, or is there one group or coalition bent on stopping the Japanese and driving them off the continent?

Unoccupied China is pretty fragmented. As for anti-Japanese groups, there are a number of them, though the single most powerful one, as of 1965, is based in San Francisco.

What is military technology like as of right now in the USAF? What I mean is, would they be flying their equivalent of OTL F4 Phantom? I guess I'm wondering whether TL-191 US is more advanced than our OTL one.

Probably something in the order of OTL Vietnam-era stuff: A-1 Skyraider (or its TTL counterpart), A-4 Skyhawk and all that; maybe even heavy bombers like B-52 (but they wouldn't need that much to level Japan, would they?)

P.S. How many states would the U.S. have by 2000, David?

They may not need much to actually level Japan, but they are going to need a lot of planes to be able to do so because of the Imperial Air Defence Net which is the strongest in the world and will shoot most of them down.

Didn't they absorb all the confederate states?

I believe the former CS states that aren't already US states (Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Louisiana, Arkansas, Cuba, Houston, Sonora and Chihuahua) are still under military rule (the Carolinas, Florida, Alabama and Mississippi)...so to answer your question, yes! :D

David, not sure if you touched on this but what is the status of minorities in Europe?
Particularly those in Austria-Hungary. In OTL A-H was planning to give minority areas a bit more of self rule (really only to Czechs and Slovens) around the time WWI started. My guess is that the status of the minorities (particularly Czechs Slovens maybe Croats by now) has greatly improved.
What about the Poles in Eastern Germany, and I guess there should be a significant number of French in the west with TL191's borders.

Also with Germany controlling so much of Africa will African's become a noticeable minority in Germany? Particularly East Africans which seems to be doing quite well in TTL.

Same for hispanics and others in the US.

What could be interesting is that they now have a large number of Russians in Alaska probably a lot will have returned to Russia but the ones that remain seeing as it was probably used by the Tsar as a dumping ground for political prisoners will probably be quite left wing making Alaska when its added to the union vote for the Socialists

Perhaps, a left leaning Alaska would be rather surreal, I can see it becoming very multicultural as well, in addition to Russians you would also have a fair amount of Turkic minorities as well, not to mention a fair amount of Jewish people as well.

I would also wonder if America would been keen to extend its influence in Siberia as well, I would wager that Japan would be eyeing up the Far East as well so a power struggle for Kamchatka and the like is quite possible.

Moscow would probably have enough on its plate on the west side of the Urals to be able to stop a fair chunk of its easternmost territories being nibbled away.

What is the curent state of England in ths TL?

They were nuked by Germany lost London and two other places were forced to pay the victors a ton of money lose their large army air force and navy and lost all of there colonies except for Kenya, Lesotho, Swaziland, Uganda and India were then unable to keep a hold of them due to lack of money probably now under a Labour government and are recovering economically think Japan

Does TTL US have a Mount Rushmore? If there was one, TR would definitely be on it, but even Washington and Jefferson might be iffy because I remember in the books some were looking down on them simply because they were Southerners.

Depending on whether it's butterflied away or not, the faces on the mountain (or anywhere else some sort of monument is created) will be somewhat different. TR is a must, as he's the man that brought the US to glory after two humiliating defeats. I can imagine Mahan maybe getting up there (prior to TR's administration, Alfred Mahan (1889-1897) was considered the US's greatest president), or if it happens late enough, one of La Follete. I think Washington would get on as well, seeing as he is considered the father of both the US as well as the former Confederacy, so you can interpret it as a reason to full unification.
