TL-191: After the End

Although I've only read "How Few Remain", this sounded good and vaild. Nice job, David.

I'm not entirely into the political stuff, so what I'm about to say would be primarily related to the military area:

1. What happened to Omar Bradley, Paul Tibbets, Curtis LeMay, and Chuck Yeager (assuming they have appeared in the series)?

2. Will a US General (McArthur, Morrell etc.) run for president (like Eisenhower IOTL)?

3. Did the USS Custer idea came from FS Foch?

4. Will a USS Camp Hill appear somewhere (either as an Midway-type carrier, or a Tico-type cruiser)?

5. When will SSBNs appear? And when they do, will they be named after states, or Revolutionary War heroes?

6. Any plans for reviving USS Remembrance? Maybe as the first CVN (OTL Enterprise)?

7. Are we going to see a high-tech Pacific War?

Yeah. Surface-to-Surface Ballistic Nuclear if I'm right. Wikipedia has the whole classification system mapped out somewhere if you want to know more.

Will the South ever be readmitted as states? If so I think the Republicans will get dominated by them since Democrats would be their oppressors while the Socialists are too radical for them.

Nah, I think they'd end up idelogically democratic as the majority of the South is conservative. They have the same reasons as the US to dislike the Republicans who are basiclly a Centrist party ITTL.

Tennessee and Kentucky were readmitted in the Grapple(Well Taft asked for Flora's support on a resolution, which she agreed to), though weren't allowed voting franchieses.

Well, Democrats will be seen as their conquerers and oppressors. Even if they don't agree with most of the Republican's positions they could easily hijack it to change it's platform to their own. That would be hilariously ironic in my opinion.

Lets see what the author has to say.

The Republicans will likely still be thought of in the South as "The Party of Lincoln." They won't be very receptive to the Republicans at all, especially in the 1960s...

this is true, however the back bone of TTL's Democratic Party is anti-Confederate feeling, the Democrats are very likely to Strongly oppose the idea of the South being "readmitted", the South is also unlikely to go to the Socialists because #1 they're Socialists and #2 the blacks back the Socialists, any ways I see the Republicans as middle ground, Yes they're the party of Lincoln but they're also the party that dumped Lincoln and while the Democrats Beat the CSA in one war and the Socialists in another the Republicans never lead the USA to victory over the CSA and the last war the Republicans lead the USA against the CSA in will be 80-90 years pasted by the time the South is readmitted, also, the Democrats & Socialists won't be very gun-ho to go hook up with Southern whites, and they have no need to as the have very strong bases every else, the Republicans are a dying party they're more likely to try and court the new Southern vote where as the Democrats & Socialists may not try as hard, also the Republicans base (the Mid-wast States) borders the South it'll be Republicans that are linking states like Ohio, Indiana and Illinois to the South that'll be big in the post-war Economy

I agree.

David I think you should look a bit more into this possibility if you want the Republicans back in power at some point.

The Republicans won't be very strong in the former CSA. They'll win the Presidency again due to increased strength in former Canada, in the West, and the Northeast, that much I can reveal. ;)

It's your TL so do as you wish, but I'd think that the former Canadians would be happier with the Socialists, given the more liberal nature of Canada, and the Socialists were against WWI and for Canada coming into the union

The Socialists will be strong in a number of Canadians states, but they'll lose ground in several to the Republicans by the end of the century.

If we do get into the 21st Century will you have an alternate AH COM with "Where Are They Now?" of OTL's board members. It would be rather funny to have our Canadian members and Southern members be resistance fighters....

ok you got me feeling better, maybe pull a UK election thing (since TL-191 USA=OTL UK when it comes to politics) have the US Socialists go all Foot crazy have their right wing brake away and the GOP move to hook up with them but unlike OTL Lib Dems the new Social Republican Party moves on to victory! :)
