TL-191: After the End

Will there be an analogue to the Simpsons ITTL, or a show similar to it?

Not in TTL, at least on US television. Although satirical television shows are not unknown in different countries by 2022, the regulations and business practices affecting television in different countries are not hospitable to a show like The Simpsons from our world.

In the original 11 CSA states plus Kentucky and Sequoyah is most of the white population still mostly pro-Freedomite or were there student revolutions like there were in Germany in the 1960s of OTL?

By 2022, the population of the former CSA is not supportive of the Freedom Party. The crimes of the Featherston regime remain a source of shame in these states.

What is fashion like ITTL as of 2022? What does the average person wear, and what clothing trends are different than OTL?

By 2022, fashion in most countries tends to be more utilitarian and conservative than in our world. For instance, university students in most countries are expected to adhere to some kind of dress code while attending classes on campus.

Wearing hats remained a part of mainstream fashion in many countries later into the 20th Century than in our world.

One difference from our world is that some popular civilian clothing designs are inspired from military uniforms.

The international centers of high fashion design by 2022 include New York City, Berlin, Vienna, and Milan.

So similar to this right

Why would you say alternate history and interest in history in general is more prominent in the US by 2022?

The interest in spec fiction by the US public after the end of the Second Great War was shaped by the greater mainstream popularity of science fiction in comparison to our world, and also by the skill and popularity of Greg Bliss and other writers.

The USA in TTL had a 19th and 20th Century marked by four massive wars in North America, the last of which was an existential war for survival against a surprise attack by a genocidal dictatorship. This war ended with a US final military victory, but also with the use of nuclear weapons.

After the end of the Second Great War, the North American Wars were remembered at a popular and academic level in the USA as an extended time when the very survival of the Union was called into question. I would argue that this is an important reason why interest in history by the US public is perhaps more prominent in TTL in comparison to our world.

Is mental illness better treated or at the same in OTL in US and the whole world?

Because how fuck up the North American Wars been to the United States especially with the black population getting genocided and the Trench warfare across the States in FGW... . . Yeah I bet that mental illness will probably be best for the US public after SGW

This is what I previously wrote about the treatment of mental illness in the USA in TTL, slightly edited:

By 2022, one major difference in the USA in TTL from the USA in our world is that no equivalent of the Community Mental Health Act was passed, meaning that there has not been a widespread move towards deinstitutionalization. In the USA, the Bureau of Asylums (BoA) of the Department of Health oversees a national network of federally-funded mental health facilities, including hospitals.

The US state-supported mental health system is not dissimilar from analogous systems in other countries, although funding levels and the overall quality of care varies, depending on the country in question. In the vast majority of countries, including in all of the great powers, there is the expectation that the state should assume full responsibility for those in need of mental health-related treatments.
