You must be right, the letter k didn't even exist in English prior to the Norman yoke being put around our necks so that continental innovation has to get into English from somewhere.
This Sceptred Isle has Harald Hardrada conquer England, and Norway was in personal union with England for centuries, so there is Norwegian influences on English.
Yeah it doesn’t become a banner for all of humanity but rather a memorial/legacy flag. Just in the lore of this one, an image of it waving in front of the advancing army would manage to circulate the globe.
Flag of the Persian Socialist Soviet Republic
It has been quite a while since I posted a flag here, so I wanted to change that.
In the aftermath of WWI, Persia was entirely in dissaray. The Qajar Dynasty, under Ahmad Shah, was completely inneffective in controlling the country, and as a result many revolts broke out--in Baluchistan, the clans rose up against attempts to assert imperial authority; In Khuzestan (Southwest Iran), an Arabized revolt made significant headway; and, in Gilan, a Communist revolt that had broken out at the beginning of WWI managed to take control of the province. They called themselves the Persian Socialist Soviet Republic.
None of the revolts lasted for all that long long, due to the efforts of a singularly talented military leader--Reza Khan (later to be known as Reza Shah after he removed Ahmad Shah from power in 1925). However, despite the short life of the state (1921-1921), I found the flag for the Persian Socialist Soviet Republic quite interesting, and thus, I wanted to redesign it.
The Lion and Sun is a classic and undying symbol of Iran, and normally is heavily detailed. However, I wanted to keep the PSSR's minimalist design as much as possible (and keep with the color scheme), so the Lion is black, and the sun pale yellow for contrast reasons. The Lion carries a hammer and sickle in it's right paw. The pedastal upon which the lion stands is stylized Persian/Farsi for "Iran."

It definitely stands out as one of the more original Communist/Socialist flags.
Bored at work so figured I would do a little flag doodling. Here is the flag of the Second French Empire in my WTLB timeline, circa the reign of Napoleon IV. Yes, the Bonapartist regime continues ITTL; there is no Third French Republic. The reign of Napoleon IV is more authoritarian than the reign of his father, Napoleon III. He tries to oust all socialist, communist, and anarchist elements from French society, restricting press freedoms and such in order to do so (in effect taking a page from Bismarck's playbook IOTL). This is all in large part a reaction to the brutal assassination of his mother by anarchists from which he still suffers mental and physical scars (his mother was burned alive in a fire caused by a bomb while riding in a carriage with Napoleon IV). Napoleon IV tries to tie his regime even more into trappings of Napoleon I's regime, including directly lifting a lot of that regime's symbology. Hence where this flag comes in. The bee was one of the symbols of Napoleon I's regime, chosen as a symbol of heirarchy and duty. Here, Napoleon IV takes that bee symbol and puts it in the middle of the tricolor flag to make it clear that this is a fully-Bonapartist France and that the engine of state answers to Napoleon.
just a small advice, move the bee a little bit lower. It looks a bit off-centered.

Something new I have been working on: The Cult War of the 2040s. Basically due to a series of economic crises and natural disasters across the entire United States, new religious movements experience a massive rise and ultimately come into clash with each other and the government. The term "Cult War" would come from the media during the 2040s, as many of the groups involved had existed for only a few years by the 2040s and the arming of most of the groups before.
The first flag I have is for the Church of the New Cross. Founded in 2036, this group would be a major faction in the Cult War of the 2040s. Their beliefs are that the two thieves (represented by the two red crosses) who were crucified alongside Jesus were actually the spirits of the Abrahamic God and the Caananite deity Baal, leading to Jesus becoming the ruler of the Heaven and Earth after the crucifixion of the three (the gold cross). They believe that since the deaths of the old deities, humanity has been in the aftershock era, which is the reason humanity is suffering by the 2030s. Universally denounced by other Abrahamic faiths, this group would take up arms against other groups trying to curb their growth, which would be the catalyst for the Cult War.
The Church of the True Creator is a new religious movement founded in 2038, two years after the Church of the New Cross. Founded by a self-proclaimed prophet who claimed to have heard the voice of Amun-Ra while in the Ancient Egyptian section of an American museum, the beliefs of this group are that the Abrahamic God is actually the Ancient Egyptian sun god Amun-Ra, and that this truth was suppressed over the past few thousand years. Having been raised in a Jewish household, leader of the CTC would combine Ancient Egyptian and Jewish cultural aspects such as Hebrew and solar iconography, which would cause mass a mass outcry by the Jewish community. Despite the universal denouncing of the CTC by the other Abrahamic faiths, the CTC would grow rapidly in 2041, and would come into direct conflict with the Church of the New Cross in 2043. The flag represents Amun-Ra and the Nile River, and the words should say "The Word of the Sun God" in Hebrew, but I used Google Translate so I'm sorry if its wrong.

The Followers of the Great Ancestor are one of the more interesting of the factions involved in CW40s, mainly because they started as an atheistic militia. Originally espousing a view that the new religious movements of the 2030s were ruining the country and its potential, they would craft a blue, white, and red flag with an Australopithecus afarensis skull on it, to show their commitment to a secular and science focused United States. However, when their leader was killed by members of the Church of the True Cross, the next leader would institute a radical change of beliefs. The new beliefs of the group was that an A. afarensis individual, dubbed by the group "Great Ancestor", was actually the first animal to have developed a soul and thus became deified (which is what the gold star represents). They then began to believe that their new leader was the incarnation of the Great Ancestor and that the death of the past leader was justice for trying to denounce the spiritual nature of humanity. After this change, the newly named Followers of the Great Ancestor would embark on a vicious guerilla campaign in the Appalachian regions, leading to even some other factions and the US government to join together briefly to stop them.
This is my favorite flag of the three so far and I hope you enjoy it. Also can someone help me determine if its off center, I made this in flagmaker jr and I cannot tell.

Here is the flag of the Ascendants of Fire. The Ascendants of Fire are the largest of the many UFO faiths that sprung up in the 2030s-2040s, existing mainly due to the stress and uncertainty cause by an increase in massive wildfires across the United States by the time the CW40s started. Their beliefs are that an advanced alien civilization has been peacefully observing Earth since the beginning of the age of radio communication in the 1900s. However, they believe that the alien civilization has determined humanity to not be worthy of the control of Earth and have thus been instrumental in changing the climate. The Ascendants of Fire believe that if all of humanity unites behind their beliefs, the alien civilization will halt their plans and will restore Earths climate. Focused primarily on seeking peace, minus a few isolated incidents, the Ascendants of Fire pursue a policy of pacifism, leading them to be one of the only new religious movements to survive the CW40s, although greatly diminished due to violence and conversions. The flag represents the wildfires that led to the groups "realization" and the stars in the shape of a UFO represent the alien civilization.

Flag of the British Congo in my WTLB TL. Instead of Leopold II of Belgium taking control over the Congo, the British get it. I modeled the flag after the flag of the British Gold Coast, using a gorilla instead of an elephant.
Bored at work, so here's a flag for the Federation of Queensland in my WTLB. Queensland annexes more of New Guinea than they do IOTL (the Germans aren't interested in New Guinea, feeling that they can take advantage of their alliance with the British to get more of Africa). With this annexation, Queensland feels that they can exercise some might over the Australian continent and petitions to federalize. This petition is granted to free up governmental energy to focus on India, giving Queensland essentially free reign over its own affairs. This is just one of the three countries occupying the Australian continent ITTL.

The Divine Sun of America is a group which arose after the presidential election of 2044, which President Alex Reed won. DSA believe that the Roman sun god Sol is the father of Alex Reed, thus making Alex Reed a deity himself. They believe the two are going to usher the rise of the American Empire, a successor state to the Roman Empire. Although President Reed would publicly decline him being a deity in an attempt to stop the rise of this group, they would nonetheless spread rapidly since a nationwide martial law would be established in 2045 due to the CW40s escalating to the point that the military officially becomes involved (after an estimated 200,000 members of the various NRMs become involved in some form of resistance). The flag has a red bar and gold sun to represent Sol and the Roman Empire, while the yellow bar, red/yellow stars, and Red sun represent the deified President Alex Reed, the original 13 colonies, and the idea that America will become a second Rome.
This flag represents the Reich of God, a neo-Nazi cult which attempts to install their ideology during the CW40s. They believe that Nazi Germany fell because Hitler did not have the blessing of the true God, who this group believe is the Supreme Aryan Creator, who will grant them an eternal utopia if they can cause the world to embrace their religious form of Nazism (the white hand in the corner). The black band represents their views that minorities have corrupted humanity, the blue represents a pure world under their ideology, and the white swastika represents the idea of a Supreme white priest leading this new Reich. I by no means at all support any part of their ideology, but I wanted this flag to ooze pure hatred, which I think I accomplished.
