TL-191: After the End

--
By 2022, the Jewish population of the German Empire is at just over 800,000 people.

Within Europe, the largest Jewish communities are located in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Kingdom of Poland, the Kingdom of Belarus, the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Bulgaria, the Kingdom of Lithuania, the Grand Duchy of Latvia, and the Italian Empire.

Languages such as Yiddish and Ladino are still spoken in different countries, although they’re not as widely spoken among Jews as they once were.

The Commonwealth of Zion is a Jewish state that emerged out of the Ottoman Dissolution, and will one day join the European Community. The Commonwealth of Zion, as with the State of Israel in our world, attracts Jewish immigrants from around the world.

By 2022, there are no Jews living in either France or the Russian Republic
Thank you for answering my question but I still have some questions regarding the Jews in Europe, Mr. David Elias.

Is that what are Jewish Peoples treated and are like in Europe 2022 specifically in the German Empire.
Is Antisemitic Still a Problem in Europe?
What did the Jewish community during the SGW especially in the Military and Citizen were like in that Period? like Werner Goldberg and Erhard Milch who are German Jews fought in WW2
What do the Average European especially the Germans think of the Jews of their respective country?
What the number of Jewish population in Europe?

And finally, How many Jews migrate to Commonwealth of Zion after The Bloody Collapse of the Ottoman Empire?
Are still sizable Jewish community in Europe after the Commonwealth Zion Migrations ?

If I remember correctly, there hadn’t ever been a Republican majority in either the House nor Senate ITTL since the 1880’s. Did the Great Housing Crash or 2052 pandemic cause this to change or will the GOP remain forever forced to form congressional coalitions?

With the terminology being different ITTL, what's the wholesale extermination of Jews and other ethnic/national peoples by the Russian Tsarists and their collaborators during GW2 referred to as? Would it still be 'Holocaust'? I've seen Marlowski suggest "Judentodt" in the Photos thread for that.

I don’t know what the descriptors would be by 2022 for the Russian Empire’s atrocities during the Second Great War.

The Republican Party narrowly held both houses of Congress during the administration of President Charles Holst (2025-2027). The Speaker of the House, Representative James Davies of Ontario, was a leading political enemy of Holst, and would become president himself after the removal of the Holst administration from office.

The Republican Party and the Democratic Party would maintain a quiet political alliance from the fall of the Holst administration and lasting through the Beckford administration (2045-2053) directed against the Socialist Party.

By 2022, Jews have legal equality in the European countries where they live.

Social equality is another thing entirely. Throughout East Central Europe, the Jews are staunchly loyal to the royal dynasties established by the Central Powers after the end of the First Great War. This loyalty was only cemented during the Second Great War in light of the danger poised by the Russian Empire. By 2022, most Jewish communities in East Central Europe have a tradition of practicing self defense and of military service.

The European countries with the largest Jewish communities by 2022 include the German Empire (~800,000 people), the Austro-Hungarian Empire (~2,000,000 people), the Kingdom of Poland (~6,000,000 people), the Kingdom of Ukraine (~2,500,000 people), the Kingdom of Belarus (~2,100,000 people), the Kingdom of Lithuania (~500,000 people), the Grand Duchy of Latvia (~250,000 people), the Kingdom of Bulgaria (~1,000,000 people; Bulgaria includes the majority Jewish city of Salonika), the Kingdom of the Netherlands (~550,000 people), and the Italian Empire (~400,000 people; this includes the Jewish communities of OTL Tunisia and Libya).

The world’s single largest Jewish community by 2022 is in the United States of America (~15,000,000 people).

While the Jewish communities are still large in a number of European countries, they also tend to be politically fragmented. Some Jews support political parties or movements oriented around Bundism, while other Jews tend to follow parties or moments oriented around World Agudath Israel; within the religious Jewish world in Europe, some powerful Hasidic groups tend to support their own factions outside of the umbrella of World Agudath Israel.

By 2022, the Bundist movement is fading among the Jewish communities in East Central Europe. The fierce opposition by Bundists to the Mizrachi movement became untenable in light of the genocidal campaign launched against the Jews of what was then the Sanjak of Jerusalem and the Vilyat of Beirut by the Ottoman government and the Golden Wolves.

In different countries, including the German Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Jewish citizens tend to vote for traditional liberal/centrist mainstream political parties.

By 2022, the Jewish communities throughout Europe are adjusting to the surge in popularity of the Mizrachi movement, TTL’s equivalent to Zionism, following the establishment of the Commonwealth of Zion in the early 2010s. While there have not been huge waves of Jewish emigration to the Commonwealth of Zion from Europe in comparison to the major wave of Jewish emigration to the Commonwealth of Zion from the Middle East and North Africa, there were a large number of European Jews, most of whom had military experience, who fought alongside the Mizrachi movement in what became a war of independence against the Golden Wolves and the collapsing Ottoman state.

There are some Jews who have emigrated from Europe to the Commonwealth of Zion by 2022, though this is usually for religious or ideological reasons.

Unfortunately, antisemitism is still present in Europe by 2022, including in the form of traditional religious Judaeophobia and racist “modern” antisemitism.

In several East European countries, such as the Kingdom of Poland, the Kingdom of Ukraine, the Kingdom of Belarus, the Kingdom of Lithuania, and the Grand Duchy of Latvia, antisemitism is often part of the programs offered by far right nationalist groups opposed to the royal dynasties that were put into power by the Central Powers; these kinds of groups hate any kind of “foreign” presence in their respective countries; these kinds of groups are often the most fanatical in terms of their antisemitism.

Since the fall of the Action Française regime after the end of the Second Great War, and the fall of the Romanov Dynasty in the Second Russian Civil War, there have not been ideologically antisemitic governments in power in any European countries.

What are the Sandwich Islands like in 2022?
Are they essentially “reservations” for Mormons or is there still a tourist market?

Sorry if this was discussed but does the Franco regime in Spain last til his death ittl? If so what is Spains current state of government?

The Nationalists never won the civil war ITTL thanks to the Entente backing the Republicans. It was a run of the mil military junta until sometime in the 1970s and the monarchy never came back.

Well that's not true, actually. The Nationalists are explicitly mentioned as winning TTL's Spanish Civil War, and are much in the same as IOTL. The opposing side are the Monarchists, who take the side of OTL's Republicans. This would mean they're made made up of SocDems, liberals, constitutionalists, and moderates that fought for the aforementioned. The anarchists and far-left that had an uneasy alliance with the Republicans, so they may be on their own ITTL.

Oh, forgot. This is what David said in his bio about Franco:
Francisco Franco, while a key member of the military junta that governed Spain after TTL’s Spanish Civil War, was only himself one part of what developed into a revolving military dictatorship. This arrangement lasted until the end of military rule in TTL’s 1970s. Franco never served as head of state.

Not to sound nitpicky, but wouldn't the Jewish populations of Ukraine, Belarus, and the Baltic States would have been all but eradicated when the Russians invaded and occupied them during GW2? Their populations would be much smaller as of TTL's 2022 than what you have stated. It would contradict what's implied in the books and a post here. Poland and Austria-Hungary will have almost all of theirs survive since Russia doesn't advance far again.

Are the aristocracies of Germany and Austria-Hungary still among the main sources of antisemitism into the present, or has that changed with generations passing?
--
Greece never joined GW1 and remained neutral (though never directly addressed). Though the Entente still uses Greece as a launchpad for the Macedonian Front, Bulgaria may still occupy part of Greek Macedonia, the National Schism will turn in favor toward pro-German king Constantine once France loses at Verdun. Giving up territory to Bulgaria will not bode well with the Greek population, so it seems unlikely they'll let that slide if the CP are willing to ignite the Balkan powder keg again. Some negotiating will have to take place between Constantine and Ferdinand.

By 2022, Mormons in the Sandwich Islands no longer live under military rule, and the state remains a popular tourist destination. The Big Island is the center of Mormon religious life in the Sandwich Islands.

Out of curiosity, does the endonym Hawai'i get promoted for tourism/wide use, or is it just locals there who use the name?

To be honest, I’m not sure of all of the details of Russian military operations on the Eastern Front during the Second Great War. I assumed that the Jewish population managed to generally survive the Russian offensives in Ukraine in spite of persecution; if I’m not mistaken, it’s mentioned in the series that Jewish partisans, presumably with backing from the Central Powers, were among the groups fighting the Russians.

In the German Empire and Austro-Hungarian Empire, antisemitism is not primarily limited to one social class or group.

Have there been any major airline accidents? What the general status between corporations and governments around the world?

Unfortunately there have been airline accidents in TTL.

-
The general status of corporations in most countries is one of subordination to the interests of the state. This isn’t anything like the Communist regimes of OTL. However, the expectation in most countries is that private companies exist to serve the interests of the state, and not the other way around.
