Kaiserreich: Legacy of the Weltkrieg

So I know this is probably a silly question, but in Kaiserreich, why is Iowa considered a place friendly to the Socialists? I know that much like Tennessee and the AUS it doesn’t always leave and stays in federal hands, but at least Tennessee fits with the AUS as they are southern like the rest of them. Sure, Iowa is in the Midwest, but it’s not the rust belt like the states to it’s east though I’d argue strongly that Davenport and Dubuque IA are the last true rust belt cities. To me the rest of Iowa is just the plain old Midwest.
Anyways what’s weird too is that Iowa doesn’t really have a strong populist or socialist tradition. Minnesota at least has the Farmer Labor party that in otl was merged into the state Democratic Party, while North Dakota was home to the socialist influenced non-partisan league (that like the Farmer Labor party in Minnesota, merged with the state level Democrats) and even Nebraska was arguably the birthplace of agrarian populism, and Oklahoma had a strong socialist party until World War One, while Iowa’s only real worker movement was the Farm Holiday of the 30’s.
Certainly Iowa otl is a tad more liberal than
it’s neighbors to the west and south, and in otl it voted for Democrats 6 out of 7 presidential elections from 1988 to 2012, but really until the depression it was a solidly Republican state. While it certainly had some progressive (for the time) republicans it had some hardcore conservatives in office too. Also, unlike the other CSA states in Kaiserreich it’s not a pro union state and was an early adopter of right to work laws.
So was Iowa just added for fun or because of its reputation of being a bit more liberal than some plains states? Or why not have the Dakotas and Nebraska be in the CSA? It’s not like they wouldn’t have farmers movements that were left wing in the 30s. Just seems odd but it’s a small detail.

Kaiserredux you mean, right. KR itself has no formal affiliation with any submods beyond Kalterkrieg, and that's more just that there's a big dev team crossover.
I like the whole path in KR where you can get Al Capone in charge of the Syndicalist States and make him King of America.
The Kaiserreich Mafia is the Mafia in the Kaiserreich community, by which I meant Kaiserredux I guess.

I have nothing against KR.
I preferred the IWW path, which keeps the CSA name and flag. Of course, being a Wobbly myself, I'm biased.
