Epidemic at the Land of the Morning Calm - Expanded TL of Seoul Station and Train To Busan

Any chance that Kingdom can be integrated? Make it like a prequel to Train to Busan?

Its possible that #Alive can be worked into it however.

If we incorporate Kingdom, then wouldn't that mean history is changed because the POD is 1500s Joseon? In #Alive, the virus worked differently. We don't have smart zombies in Train to Busan.

Although anyone is free to incorporate all three if one wants to make a three-way fanfiction timeline.

In a press conference at the Ministry of National Defence in Istanbul yesterday, the Minister of National Defence Fikri Işık stated that an UN-Turkish Naval Forces Fleet is already en-route to the fortified city of Busan, South Korea following the devastating K-Z Virus Outbreak on July 20, 2016. The country was on high alert as the virus spreads throughout South Korea, while the ROK Armed Forces established a defensive perimeter in Busan.

The disease is believed to be a mutation of rabies. The mode of infection is confirmed to be from direct-fluid contact, as it spreads through bites from infected personnel. These infected are dangerous and will respond with homicidal aggression to the nearest uninfected individual. They have earned the nickname "zombies" due to their similar behavior from the horror creatures in modern-day pop-culture.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Defence along with the National Security Council has extended the state of emergency in Turkey since the July 15 Attempted Military Coup
D'état, in which soldiers of the Turkish Armed Forces, those who are loyal to the president and the country, were ordered to report for immediate deployment to protect key-areas of the country, and that the Armed Forces along with the Turkish Ministry of Health is to prepare what will be immediate quarantine and containment protocols.

All Turkish Airways and Korean Air flights to and from South Korea were cancelled due to the K-Z Virus Outbreak in South Korea and at all Seaports, the Borders with Syria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran, Iraq, Georgia and the EU along with all Airports including Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul were seen with heavy security by the Turkish Army troops and Turkish National Police officers wearing masks. Those who are suspected to come from South Korea were subjected to immediate quarantine where they were observed for any symptoms of the K-Z Virus under armed surveillance but were given their rights.

In a statement about the safety of turkish citizens in the infected areas and the Busan Fortified Zone, Defence Minister Fikri Işık said that "The Defence Ministry is working alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to account for all turkish citizens that are in South Korea at the time of the outbreak. We can now confirm that the Turkish Embassy in Seoul has been relocated to the Turkish Consulate in the Busan Safe Zone, and that we accounted for 95% of all turkish citizens that are in Busan. The Naval Forces will not only provide humanitarian aid to South Korea but also evacuate any turkish citizens back home. We in the name of god, the merciful and compassionate, must not let this virus reach Turkey and our neighboring countries".

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has offered his condolences to South Korean President Park Geun-Hye via telephone from the Presidential Complex in Ankara to Busan, which is now the temporary capital. "Just days after the Coup D'état attempt, a tragic outbreak has devastated the Southern edge of the Korean Peninsula". He spoke in a televised address to the nation and parliament yesterday. "In the name of god, the merciful and compassionate, Turkey, along with NATO and the UN, will work to help the Korean people during this crisis, our brothers and sisters will give what is needed to the Korean people and we will help them overcome this outbreak". He also ordered all troops of the Military, who are loyal to the country, to report for immediate deployment and that all turkish citizens are to not panic and stay calm during this crisis and that the Turkish Ministry of Health is to work with the World Health Organization to develop a vaccine for the K-Z Virus. He also announced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with the Korean Embassy in Istanbul will help many of the South Koreans that are now stranded in Turkey following the outbreak.

Good addition!

Looking forward to more of these!

Consider too that Turkey was part of the Korean War on the side of the UN. However, this deployment would also be accessed by the opponents of Erdogan as shifting focus, considering ten days before, the coup just happened.

Following the devastating K-Z Virus Outbreak that has spread throughout South Korea, Prime Minister Theresa May has ordered troops from the British Army to protect all transit hubs and tourist attractions at all the major cities including London, as there was fear that the virus could reach the United Kingdom within hours after South Korea officially declares a state of emergency to contain the outbreak.

In London, a convoy of vehicles from the British Army were seen heading to various tourist attractions and transit hubs. This was also seen in other major cities across the UK, including Manchester and Birmingham. There were also sightings of helicopters from the Royal Air Force patrolling the skies of the major cities and confirmed reports of Buckingham Palace's security along with security at Westminster Palace being stepped-up. The Prime Minister has stated in a press conference at 10 Downing Street that this is a major per-caution they are taking to prevent the K-Z Virus from reaching Britain, and that it is necessary to prevent it from being spread to other countries.

In fact, troops from the British Army were seen patrolling London's Heathrow Airport, Stansted Airport, Gatwick Airport, London City Airport, Luton Airport and Southend Airport alongside officers from the Metropolitan Police Service, and it was also sighted at St. Pancreas International Station, Charring Cross Station, Kings Cross Station and Euston Station. Also, officials from the UK Department of Health have also been deployed to all of London's International Airports and St. Pancreas International Station including the Eurotunnel Checkpoint at Folkstone, Kent to quarantine any travelers who are suspected to arrive from South Korea.

Meanwhile, soldiers from the British Army and officers from the Metropolitan Police Service were also seen patrolling major tourist attractions across London including The London Eye, The National Gallery, The British Museum and the Tower of London. The British Transport Police was also called in to protect the London Underground with the British Army troops including the four railway stations which also includes St. Pancreas International Station and all rail stations across the United Kingdom.

Mead-TheresaMay.jpg
Prime Minister Theresa May addressing the press on the devastating outbreak of the K-Z Virus in South Korea outside 10 Downing Street. The Prime Minister has stated that the measures are a major per-caution to prevent the virus from reaching Britain.

A spokesperson for the National Health Service (NHS) has stated that it has received orders from the Department of Health to have all hospitals across the UK to begin what will be immediate quarantine protocols in the event that the virus reaches Britain. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the virus is transmitted via direct-fluid contact with an infected individual's saliva done via bites to the skin. The infected saliva carrying the virus then travels the victim's bloodstream where it begins to attack the central and peripheral nervous system. Once both nervous systems have been attacked by the virus, the victim soon begins to loose control of the limbs, resulting in violent spasms. The spasms usually last around 10-20 seconds just as the virus takes over the control of the brain. Following this take over, the victim then becomes one of the infected and would display homicidal aggression to the nearest individual in an urge to spread the virus to more individuals. Additionally, incubation period of the K-Z Virus may vary among individuals. Those bitten by near any major artery would begin to display violent spasms almost immediately while those bitten in the arms or appendages seem to take longer around 1-2 minutes based on survivor accounts on the ground. Those who take longer to turn exhibit the paling of skin, the protrusion of veins among the skin, the loss of rationality, and the murmur of random sentences.

In fact, the British Army have been ordered to look-out for these symptoms and are ordered to 'Shoot-To-Kill' the infected individual immediately. Travelers who are suspected to come from South Korea are subjected to quarantine where they are observed for any of the symptoms under armed guard, but were still given their rights. Some travelers entering the United Kingdom via the Eurotunnel and all Airports including several British Nationals criticized PM May and the UK Government's response to the K-Z Virus Outbreak but praised them as it is for the prevention of the virus reaching the UK.

Meanwhile, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) alongside the South Korean embassy in London is assisting many of the South Koreans that are stranded across the United Kingdom when the K-Z Virus Outbreak occurred. Boris Johnson, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, stated also that they are accounting for all the British Nationals that are currently in the Busan Safe Zone and they have confirmed that the British Embassy in Seoul has been evacuated and relocated to Busan.

In a statement also by the Secretary of State for Defence Michael Fallon, it is confirmed by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) that the Royal Navy that is currently participating in the RIMPAC 2016 exercise is currently joining the Naval Quarantine of the Korean Peninsula and they are ready to evacuate all the British Nationals that are currently in the Busan Safe Zone. In the meantime, all British Airways and Korean Air flights to and from South Korea are currently suspended due to the events in South Korea. The Prime Minister will later make an address today from 10 Downing Street on the outbreak in South Korea at 6:00PM GMT live on the BBC, Sky News, ITV and Channel 4.

Interesting take on the outbreak through different media channels. I think the next story we would see is pranksters getting arrested or even hate attacks on Koreans, with some East Asians caught in the mix.

I might as well continue my self-insert chapter. Due to the butterflies of the outbreak, it will be a different take on what I did on that day on November 9, 2016.

The Prime Minister Theresa May has offered her condolences to South Korean President Park Geun-Hye via telephone conference following the outbreak of the K-Z Virus on July 20, 2016. She has spoken to the president from 10 Downing Street in London to the fortified city of Busan, which is now the temporary capital as Seoul was over-run by the zombie virus infection and has released a statement on Twitter that she stands in solidarity with the Korean people and that Britain along with the rest of the world will stand strong against the virus.

"Just a month after we voted to leave the EU, a devastating outbreak has occurred in the Southern part of the Korean Peninsula." The Prime Minister has stated in a televised address to the nation on the outbreak from 10 Downing Street on July 22, 2016. "On behalf of the people of the United Kingdom and the world, we stand in solidarity with the South Korean people as they struggle to survive during this crisis. We would offer any help they need, and rest assured, our government will not let this virus reach the UK and in the words of Winston Churchill to the Korean people: We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills, and we shall never surrender."

K-Z Virus Outbreak in South Korea: Britain is now on High Alert, says Prime Minister May

Prime Minster Theresa May addressing the nation at 10 Downing Street on July 22, 2016, just two days after the K-Z Virus has devastated all of South Korea (PHOTO: BBC)

In a televised address from 10 Downing Street on July 22, Prime Minister Theresa May has stated that the heightened security measures are part of a major per-caution that Her Majesty's Government is implementing to prevent the South Korean K-Z Virus from reaching the United Kingdom. She further added that she has instructed the National Health Service (NHS) to prepare what will be immediate quarantine and containment protocols for all hospitals across the United Kingdom should the security measures fail and that the K-Z Virus reached Britain. On July 20, 2016, the K-Z Virus disease broke out in the capital city of Seoul. Overnight it has spread to roughly the entire country, except for the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula as the ROK Armed Forces established a defensive perimeter in Busan. The disease is believed to be a mutation of rabies. The mode of infection is confirmed to be from direct-fluid contact, as it spreads through bites from infected personnel. Those who are infected are dangerous and will respond with homicidal aggression to the nearest uninfected individual. They have earned the nickname "zombies" due to their similar behavior from the horror creatures in modern-day pop-culture.

Prime Minster Theresa May has ordered the Royal Armed Forces, which only comprised of the British Army and the Royal Air Force to protect all key tourist attractions and transit hubs including the airports at all major cities in the UK including London, and just yesterday the British Army and the Metropolitan Police Service in London alongside the British Transport Police has conducted exercises in the London Underground and all of London's rail stations in which they respond to a confirmed outbreak in the rail system, this is also done in the major cities including Manchester and Birmingham. The Royal Armed Forces two days before has also conducted an exercise at the village of Sandford, Gloucestershire in which they try to take back the village now over-run by the infected along with some assistance from the UK Red Cross Society and the Sandford Constabulary Police led by Inspector Nicholas Angel, known to uncover a series of murders that are disguised as accidents in 2007.

Not sure what movie you are referring to but for sure 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later will come into mind. The MOD and NHS can even use those movies as a reference for Britain's countermeasures. Just like how the Pentagon has CONPLAN 8888.
Winston Churchill to the Korean people: We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills, and we shall never surrender."
The only difference is that the South Koreans aren't fighting Nazis or North Koreans, but infected people that were once their own citizens.

Another difference IITL of mine is that I made the zombies here technically living ones just like in 28DL/WL. The sequel Peninsula fully established them as undead rather than living humans.

The movie I am referring to is this film starring Simon Pegg: Hot Fuzz (2007)

Consider this: The Republican National Convention was taking place at the start of the K-Z Virus outbreak (since it started on July 20, 2016). It would be mentioned in his speech, among others...

Sorry for asking but is there will be new thread marks?
The story is already done. The rest are just new add ons. However, I will definitely put more threadmarks so people can easily read this ATL news articles.

Yes, it was mentioned if you go back to the first pages on the thread. Same for the Toledo, Ohio rally in the same week.

Disclaimer: At the time I wrote this in 2017-2018, the mods and admins weren't as strict when it came to current pol references in what was then recent period alternate history stories. It was only around 2019 that they took a stricter stance when it comes to current politics. Hence, I would suggest not to further mention about it and stick to news articles of the outbreak.

If someone wants to write a current politics section regarding this timeline, feel free to start it at Chat.

The flight was cancelled from what country? Or was it mid-air and had to divert to Japan?

Also, was this commercial really occurring in OTL July 2016? If so, this is a good find on how pop-culture is affected here.

I'm sure the members of BTS, EXO, NTC, and Momoland would have either succumbed to K-Z or if they are lucky, escaped to Busan, Jeju, or another country.

Gonzo’s flight with Korean Air was cancelled at LAX International Airport at Los Angeles, California, USA.

No, it wasn’t. It was something related to ABC’s The Muppets episode titled: Going, Going, Gonzo
