I don't think so. They could keep the name and change the direction of the articles. I could see the CSA repurposing The New Yorker to be full on satire, making articles that lampoon the lifestyles of the bourgeois. It would be something like Mad Magazine or Funny Times.

How about name like Bostoner or Boston time is a Good magazine name
Both are good answers

Hawaii Five-O was a police drama that ran from 1968-1980. Created by Hawaiian producer Leonard Freemen, the show was casted by local Hawaiian actors and filed entirely on location in Hawaii. The show's success has become synonymous with Hawaii itself. The show was revived in 2010 and there are heated debates on the internet on whether the 2010 show can even hold a candle to the original 1968 show.

The ensemble characters of the popular British sitcom Dad's Army, which follows the misadventures of a Home Guard unit during the Second Weltkrieg. It's still considered as a cult classic in the Union of Britain and the Internationale.

Abe's_Oddysee_Cover.jpg

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - a 1997 platform video game from the Commonwealth of America. The game centers on the eponymous Abe, a meek Mudokon slave at the RuptureFarms meat processing factory. When he discovers that he and his fellow Mudokons are to be slaughtered to make a new product, Abe decides to escape and liberate as many enslaved Mudokons as he can. The player assumes the role of Abe as he attempts a perilous quest to emancipate his downtrodden people.

The game became a critical and commercial hit, not only becoming popular with various Syndicalist nations, but also having a cult following in the Empire of Japan. Since then, Oddworld became a multi-media franchise, making Comic Strips, Comic Books, Radio, Television (both for kids and adults), and Film (again, both for kids and adults). There's even a loosely-based Anime series, "Abe a GoGo".

I think OTL Abe's oddisey actually had problems in Japan due to their possible association with the Burakumin (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burakumin), or thats what I heard
Kinda, it had to do with the Yakuza, which is why they had to alter it there and have the Mudokons have 3 fingers since then. I'm guessing that was for a time though, since New 'N Tasty gave them back their 4 fingered hands, with Soulstorm basically confirming that they're here to stay this time.

Is Hawaii a monarchy or a republic?

Is Hawaii a monarchy or a republic?

Hawaii would be a republic in this scenario. I find it improbable for the monarchy to be restored. I imagine Hawaii serving as a buffer zone between the PSA and Japan. It's nominally democratic but is a de facto plutocracy run by the big five and the zaibatsu.

Video Nasty is a colloquial term used primarily in the United Kingdom to refer to a number of films, typically low budget horror and exploitation films. These videos, typically distributed on VHS and CED (Capacitance Electronic Disc) were able to slip pass the UK’s strict censorship due to a legal loophole in film classification that allowed videos to bypass the review process. Video Nasties were a hot button issue in Britain during the 1980’s especially since the Authoritarian Democrats began to wane in political power and public support. Mary Whitehouse, a prominent conservative activist led a campaign to prosecute distributors of videos nasties and compiled a list of 72 films that she claimed were in violation the Subversive Publications Act of 1946.

When the Social Democratic Party took power in the mid-1980s, they replaced the Subversive Publications Act with the Video Recording Act which closed the loopholes that were exploited but also relaxed what content could be deemed obscene. In recent years, the stricter requirements have been relaxed and many of the films once deed video nasties have been released uncut or with minimal edits.

Notable films that were included in Mary Whitehouse’s list of 72 films

Last Orgy of Herman Goering
Joy Camp 69
The Butcher of Buganda
The Evil Dead
Der Mörder von Königsberg
Cannibal Holocaust
The Last House on the Left

Edit: grammar

Something interesting to consider is what sort of cultural malaise there might be in a France that Lost the Franco-Prussian War, Lost the First Weltkrieg, and then, assuming a really lucky player controlling the German Empire, get's their tailbone kicked between their shoulder blades for the third time when they go to war over Switzerland.

All the jokes about cheese-eating surrender monkies we have in our world might actually be considered real here. That the French have to admit that no matter what the French just can't fight the Germans, they WILL lose no matter what.
