Pop-culture of the Kaiserreich

Sprockets was a reoccurring comedy sketch from New England television series Saturday Night Live, created and starring Canadian comedian Mike Myers as a fictional German talk show host Dieter. The sketch parodied Germany’s art culture and German stereotypes pertaining to German seriousness, efficiency, and precision. The sketch is hosted by Myers’s character Dieter, a stereotypical German minimalist and expressionist who interviews various celebrities whom he shows little interest in, often derailing his interviews to dance or to have his guest touch his pet monkey Klaus. Sprockets was one of the highest rated SNL sketches during its time on the air.

OTL Fun Fact: “Liebe meine Abschminke” the phrase Myers shouts when guests touch his monkey translates to “Love my makeup remover”

Dieter’s Traum is the 2003 film adaptation of the popular Saturday Night Live Sketch Sprockets. In the film, Dieter’s pet monkey Klaus is kidnaped and held for ransom and the ratings for Sprockets plummet. Unable to pay the ransom having spent all his money on art and lotions, Dieter goes to Los Angeles to find Klaus himself where he is aided by his American cousin Bob Sheeder (Will Ferrell) and expert monkey tracker Daryl Hanes (Jack Black). The films production was stalled due to rewrites, reshoots, and clashing egos with Myers threatening to leave the project on multiple occasions. The film did not perform well in the box office but recouped its losses thanks to a strong cult following.

OTL Fun Fact: Mike Myers did make a script for a Sprockets movie in 1999 but backed out of the project being dissatisfied with the script. Universal Studios and Imagine Entertainment sued Myers for the costs of pre-production. Myers then countersued both studios and, in the subsequent settlement, he agreed to do The Cat in the Hat as compensation.

Just saw Uncharted for the second time today. Anyone here have any ideas how to make both the game/movie different in KR?

Set in a fantasy world heavily influenced by Slavic mythology, the Hexter series follows the adventures of professional monster hunter Geralt as he battles deadly creatures and evil men to save his world. A film trilogy is currently in development for 2023 release.

Bianca Lawson as the lead character in the hit TV show Kendra the Vampire Slayer. Bianca plays a Jamaican student who moves to the fictional California town of Sunnydale in the Pacific States of America, where she discovers her destiny as a vampire slayer, while juggling the usual hurdles of a Pacifican teenager such as boys, friendships and homework. The show was a successful hit and is still a cult classic in Mitteleuropa and the Caribbean League.

I really do like this notion - it’s the sort of small change with fascinatingly broad implications that makes Alternate History so much fun.

Any ideas of the type of propaganda movies they would make in New England?

The New Yorker is a weekly New England magazine that features journalism, commentary, criticism, essays, fiction, satire, cartoons, and poetry. The magazine is frequently criticized for being pretentious and serving as a mouthpiece for New England elites. It is often joked that New Englanders who don’t have a subscription to The New Yorker are placed on the FBI’s watch list.

If New York City joins the CSA wouldn't the magazine change it's name?

I don't think so. They could keep the name and change the direction of the articles. I could see the CSA repurposing The New Yorker to be full on satire, making articles that lampoon the lifestyles of the bourgeois. It would be something like Mad Magazine or Funny Times.
