The Freewinds would never arrive in Kodiak, nearly three weeks after her last sighting, life jackets, life preservers, two capsized lifeboats, deck chairs, etc. were discovered floating adrift around the North Pacific part of North America, leading many to agree that she sank during a violent storm that swept through the region around the time of her last sighting. As of 2026. The ship's wreckage has yet to be found. The ships loss served as a blow to the Church, leading to massive reduction in size and influence, although the church would survive the war, barley, but it's nowhere near as big as it once was. Today, the Church is mostly centered in Belize, while they say the relocated there because the US is violating the groups 1st Amendment rights, many agree they relocated to the country due to it's tax laws.

Having been ignored aand thought to be a local drug addict after lying on the concrete for an hour, the moment of reanimation is captured by an unknown photographer.
Given the very early date of the photograph, and the fact that the general public surrounding the infected individual seem to be unaware of the danger (yet curious none the less) it is thought that this individual could be one of the earliest examples of the solanum virus in Scotland.

A photograph of the Soviet communications ship SSV-33 Ural (Photographed in January 1988), The ship was laid up in 2002 due to high operating costs and was to be scrapped in 2010. During her scrapping process however, the Great Panic would occur as well as large numbers of infected appearing in Russia, resulting in the ship being relocated to Ulithi and it would serve as the broadcast base for the worldwide radio network, Radio Free Earth.

US President John McCain (R-AZ), who was President of the United States from 2009 to 2013 after defeating Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Presidential Elections. As President, John McCain's tenure as President was marked by a belligerent foreign policy, especially towards the Islamic Republic of Iran which was a major push in leading to the Islamic Republic developing its nuclear weapons arsenal and the eventual Iran-Paksitan Nuclear War. Domestically, the McCain administration was marked by a continuation of Bush-era deregulation in the financial sector as well. However, the McCain Administration would end up being the last pre-war Administration with the McCain Presidency ending in him having a mental breakdown during the retreat to the West Coast and him being replaced by his VP Colin Powell after the cabinet convened and declared McCain incapable of exercising the position of President due to his mental breakdown.

One of the most important jobs for the American intellectual community was finding out how much cultural heritage survived the WWZ years. While the 'top' items of heritage like the Constitution where placed in vaults, in many places museums and art galleries where looted or worse burned. Luckily in some, like here in Salt Lake City, much survived almost untouched.
Many American cities would forever remain no-go areas due to the high rate of pollution and population loss.

Kurdistan would be pretty obvious, especially with how them having "no friends but the mountains" would help them survive the war.
