The Philippine Anarchy
----------------------------------

Inspired by GenralBaffoon's style of maps
Part 1
Part 2
Final Part to the "Insurrection" series of maps. Probably the first story I somewhat finished. Might just add some stuff to flesh it out later
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
For almost 3 decades, the Philippine Islands felt nothing but constant war. From the Insurrection against the United Nations in 2034, to the outbreak of a brutal civil war in 2049 that finally died down after nine more years of fighting not foreign invaders but themselves. By 2058, the so-called "Philippine Anarchy" has virtually reached its conclusion as fighting between the factions finally ceased.

Out of the initial 33+ Factions that formed the Filipino Provisional Commission, only nine remained. Most of the independent factions in Luzon was defeated by the victorious Communist Party, who initially proclaimed the Peoples' Republic of the Philippines after the fall of Manila in 2052, but eventually wasn't able to gain a hold over the rest of the islands as their fellow revolutionaries were defeated in the Visayas and Mindanao. While mainland Luzon fell to the communists, secessionist factions such as the Mait's Provisional Government and the Free Palawan Forces managed to stay independent by continuing to repel any attempts by the Communists to land in the island, though the real reason that the communists hasn't been able to expand out of Luzon is because of the amount of partisan groups they're fighting all over the island.

At the center, the Federation of the Bisayas stands as the Bastion of Democracy in the islands, with a parliamentary-style government mirrored from that of Denmark and the UK, though its stability is a different question altogether as the country's Prime Minister tries to balance out the influence of the Federalists and the Centralists, remnants of the original government of the Federal State of the Visayas years prior, to prevent a potential crisis from escalating once more into a Civil War. In fact, the Bisayan Government is currently facing a secessionist crisis as their eastern provinces in Samar broke free and declared their independence as the Waray's Peoples' Republic, though the crisis hasn't escalated into a full conflict as at the moment the two parties are negotiating the new delineation of the Bisayan-Waray border.

At the south, Mindanao lies divided between four major factions. Initially the island was practically a free-for-all until the threat of a complete muslim takeover under the Bangsamoro Republic unified the three pre-dominantly catholic factions to completely push Bangsamoro out of mainland Mindanao. It was because of these cooperation that the three factions agreed to a full peace agreement, though the threat of an islamic resurgence from Bangsamoro's stronghold in Sulu kept the three as allies. In Northern Mindanao, the situation between the Mindanao Federation and the Federation of the Bisayas is rather odd. During the late stages of the "anarchy", the government of Misamis Oriental joined Bisayas without an actual signed agreement, which resulted to the Mindanaon Government assuming that Misamis was invaded by the Bisayan Federalists and invaded the territory. Fortunately, a ceasefire was immediately ordered and the matter is still being negotiated by the two parties, though so far it's getting nowhere.

With that, the last few embers of the Philippine Anarchy has finally come to an end. For the first time the Filipinos in the islands felt peace for the first time after three decades of violence and death. Unfortunately for them, however, the insurrection that initially started to preserve the Filipino Identity and Nation in a world that mostly unified under the United Nations only ended in a tragedy that utterly destroyed the very things they tried to preserve. While there's cooperation between most of the post-philippine states, unification is no longer likely as these new stations would rather march on into a new future by themselves.

From its creation in 1899 to its devastating end in 2049, the history of the Republic of the Philippines finally comes to a close.

The problem with trying to make Kaiserreich 'more realistic' is that you either change staples like the British revolution (in which case it's not really Kaserreich anymore) or you're mostly rearranging window dressing. imo.

lots of franchises go through drastic changes and reboots over time, just look at world of warcraft, doctor who, etc.

World of Japanese Sassanid fire-worshippers

SasJap.png
This is a cover of an old Russian timeline made by Magnum aka Bicycle aka @Drakon-of-China , you can read it here in Russian. In short, the sudden death of the Tibetan ruler, Songtsen Gampo, during his wedding night with a Chinese princess in 641 AD, provoked a new round of the long-term Tang-Tibetan war. Thus, the path to the west was blocked; Peroz III, an exiled representative of the Sassanid dynasty, could not go to reconquer his Persian homeland. He was forced to participate in the foreign war on the Chinese side. The long and exhausting war involved first the Korean states, then Japan. So, by the will of fate, Peroz turned out to be the Chinese wang of conquered Japanese islands. Madness follows.
I decided that since this is a Russian timeline, I will make the description in the Russian AH style. Have fun.

Uyghur Empire: created by the great Kurabir-khan, a Chinese-educated Uyghur prince who considers himself the new Qi Shi Huang of this world. De Jure is still a tributary of China.
Absorbed interesting powers:
a) Silla: defeated all its rivals in the peninsula by skillfully maneuvering between China and Japan. Unfortunately, they made their last choice wrong and were swallowed by the Uyghurs.
b) Xi Hui: the Abbasid clan lost its war with the Umayyads and was forced to flee east. There, taking advantage of the Tang dynasty crisis, they seized power in northern China. Islamic China did not happen, however, because a coalition of East Asian peoples led by the Japanese Sassanids drove them to the west, where the Sinicized Abbasids founded their state.
China: after the expulsion of the Muslims, for some time it was under the control of the Japanese dynasty, but the inability to control vast territories forced the Emperor to return to Japan. He leaves the mainland in the care of a new just dynasty.
Southern Chinese Dynasty: broke away from China due to the Emperor's ignorance of the Uyghur threat. Unfortunately for the southerners, there really is no threat from the north, as Kurabir is aware of the hidden dangers of conquering China. The dynasty is living its last days.
Annan: was conquered by China shortly before the birth of the Uyghur Empire and rebelled simultaneously with the Southern Dynasty, but against it too.
Champa: Japan's need for war elephants created permanent trade links with Indochina, and, at the same time, greatly reshaped the local balance of power.
Former Khmer Empire: fell under the strikes of the young Champa Empire.
Sassanid Japan: created by Peroz, his army, and the flow of Persian refugees from India + Chinese bayonets. In just two generations, the Persians began to assimilate into the local population but created a Japan that is very different for us both in language and culture, and in religion. The country was saved from the Uyghur invasion by a crown prince’s betrayal that overthrew the Emperor and accepted Uyghur suzerainty.
Pallavian Empire: descendants of Parthian nomads determined to reconquer their lost homeland or simply an expansive maritime power with a sphere of influence from Yemen to Borneo. This is a matter of dispute for future historians (or not).
Srivijaya: the once-mighty Malayan empire was exhausted in the war with the Javanese pirates and became an easy victim for Pallava. After several devastating raids, the empire had to accept humiliating vassalage from the Hindus.
Ruins of Pala: Pala fell a little early; there has not yet been found an analog of the Sena among the fragments.
Solanki Empire: another turn of the Indian wheel brought a new player to the top.
Ethiopia: prince Darigato traveled a long way from Japan to Persia as part of the Kurabir’s army, was the governor of the conquered Persia, and secretly wanted to restore the empire of his ancestors, fled from persecution to Egypt, fought the Pallava in Yemen. In the end, his adventures ended here, thousands of miles from his native islands.
The Caliphate of Persia, now the Sarijits Empire: was a pitiful sight in the form of a feudal hellhole before the Uyghur invasion and became an easy target for them. The caliph and his loyal army were able to retreat to India, to pull-a-Mughals and become a pain in the ass for the Uyghurs due to constant raids into Persian territory and support for the rebels.
Caliphate of Rum: due to the more ‘calm’ conquest of Persia, Constantinople fell to the Arabs much earlier. The golden age and peak of Rum's power are over; neighbors approach from all sides and lick their lips at Constantinople.
Rump Caliphate of Misr: was a classic Mamluk regime with a puppet caliph before the conquest. Unfortunately, these Mamluks were not former nomads like OTL. Due to the desperate and unsuccessful attempts of army remnants to retake Lower Egypt, the Hejaz Arabs plan to go free swimming.
Caliphate of Carphage: capital of the Mediterranean piracy and slave trade. Naval skirmishes between Muslim pirates and Maltese Vikings create tons of epic sagas.
Caliphate of Mauritania: the most remote fragment of the Arab caliphate and concurrently the birthplace of many sects.
Avar Emirate: Avars converted to Islam after the fall of Constantinople and became a conductor of the Muslim threat to Christian Europe. The modern Emirate has nothing to do with the nomadic empire of the past - it is a military machine that lives in endless raids into Christian and pagan lands (Venice died in one of such raids); the Islamized descendants of the Avars and Slavs are ruled by Mamluk clans originally from black Africa.
Magyar-Roman Empire aka Northern Roman Empire: the fall of Constantinople caused an outflow of Greek refugees north into the Crimea and later into the young Khazar Khaganate, mixing with the local population. In one of the Arab-Khazar wars, when the Arab fleet besieged the capital in Kerch, the Magyar clan betrayed the Khazars and seized power in Northern Rome.
Free City of Kiev: a young state of Eastern Slavs dissatisfied with Northern Rome and a tribe of western Poles who fled from the Avar raids.
Bulgar Khaganate, Fortress of King Solomon: the early fall of Constantinople and the adoption of Christianity by the Khazars forced the Bulgars to say fck you to its neighbors and accept Judaism.
Hispano-Aquitaine: the Arab conquest of Iberia completely failed. Iberia of this world is the main initiator of the ‘crusades’, which are more like punitive sea raids on the North Africa coast.
The New Roman Empire, aka the Bavaro-Italian Kingdom: slowly crumbling under its own weight and threatening to repeat the path of the OTL Holy Roman Empire. Now the center of power has shifted from Bavaria and northern Italy to the south of the Italian boot.
Magna Graecia: still nominally subordinate to the capital in Milan, but de facto an independent power. Actively leads an independent Reconquista of Greece and has huge appetites for Constantinople. There are even rumors about secret agreements between the Uyghurs and Magna Graecia in the case of the former’s invasion of Rum.
Papal Rome: the Popes never received such power as IOTL. Their role is limited to the nominal coronation ceremony of Roman Emperors.
Sardinia: one of the successful Arab raids wiped out all but one influential Sardinian clan. The clan consolidated power over the island and began maritime expansion in the Mediterranean, becoming the first thalassocracy of the new Europe.
Neustria, Austrasia and Burgundy: fragments of the stillborn Frankish Empire.
Mercia: some still call it Pendosia, after the great king Penda the Great, who temporarily unified England. His legacy did not live long, and the Frankish clan, who had fled here since the fall of the Frankish Empire, seized power in the country (in the original TL, these were the exiled Carolingians, but I decided not to make such moves).
Tir an Oighir: one of the Pictish clans migrated to Iceland to escape the massacre treats from other clans. Their presence here stopped the Viking expansion into the North Atlantic. Perhaps the Picts established contacts with Greenland and America, but we will not know about this.
Norway and Sweden: not very different from their historical counterparts.
The rest of the Nordic diaspora: Vikings are still Vikings; they raided and settled all over Europe. Under their control were both the familiar lands of eastern England, the Baltic, and Northern Russia, but also exotic ones like the Canary Islands, Malta, and Cyrenaica.
Saxo-Denmark Union: a dynastic union between Denmark and Saxony. Without a strong Frankish Empire, the Vikings broke into Saxony, which was tired of endless wars and mutual massacres with the Franks, and began to settle in it. Through the generations, a Viking strongman united these lands and founded a powerful kingdom.
Reveland: the Estonian state under the Vikings' auspices.
Novagrad: another state under the auspices of the Vikings, but this time it was the Vikings from England. Events in the Pacific Ocean will save future historians from arguing about whether the founders of the state were Vikings, Slavs or Englishmen.
Vandalusia: a story similar to the OTL Normandy, but the local Vikings' descendants are fighting against Muslim pirates and be sure, very successfully.

Well, that's one way to keep people from bugging you about continuing your timeline.

Explanation, for a non-Russian?

Be warned, there are some things in this world that you just can't un-remember :p

I don't know if I can reply to the pinned advice thread, so I'm asking here anyways. How do I properly fill stuff in Inkscape? Whenever I try to, the filler tool always ends up bleeding out into the other parts of the map, and I don't know how to prevent it or work around that. I downloaded a wikimedia map for a base map, and found that they just fill over everything and put the ocean layers on top. I tried that but the ocean layers just bled out into the continental outline, and vice versa.

This one I've had in the works for a while (finally getting some older stuff done), a science fiction setting based on the William Tenn/Philip Klass story "On Venus, Have We Got a Rabbi."

it's the 29th century, and humanity remains stubbornly non-united. Oh, there's a sort of unity - the Council of Eleven Nations terrestrial, which along with their puppets and client states and some minor neutrals form the Global Consensus on Earth, is a fairly close alliance, if only out of mutual self-interest, and forms the Solar Alliance with the wealthy former colony worlds of Titan and Ganymede. The outer solar system, Venus [1], Mercury, and various interstellar colonies not yet strong enough to be too much trouble to hold onto are divvied up in various ways, with Venus, for instance, being ruled by a Viceroy agreed upon by the Council and the Presidents of Ganymede and Titan. Mars, which has interstellar colonies of its own by now, and its Belter allies form a separate and somewhat hostile alliance, although willing enough to cooperate with the Solar Alliance against non-human interstellar menaces.

The best known on Earth among said menaces, for reasons that will soon be clear, are the vaguely clam-like Vegans - not actually from Vega, but humans first encountered them there, and the name has stuck. As it turned out, the Vegans were remarkable susceptible to the human memetic weapons known as "religion", and before humans figured out how to turn this to their advantage, large portions of the Vegan species converted to sort-of Judaism and sort-of Islam (the civil war is ongoing). In the peace treaty that ended the last human-Vegan conflict, the land of sometimes Egyptian/Sometimes Persian Palestine mark 2 formerly Israel Mark 2 formerly Arab Palestine formerly Holy Land formerly Israel etc. was ceded to the Vegans, both sides in the civil war considering it Holy Land. Although initially a co-dominion, the Omayadds and the Dayanites [2] soon started fighting over it, and the conflict is ongoing: since the Council won't allow Vegan military craft near Earth, it's fought with smuggled in weapons of only minor mass destruction at worst, but at this point if humans retake the place, it's going to require decades of decontamination.

It's an exciting time to be Jewish. It's been centuries since the Second Holocaust (Israel and South America), and there are more Jews alive than ever before: there aren't that many places on earth that are welcoming to Jews, but eight of the Eleven Nations Terrestrial are willing to at least tolerate their existence, and the great majority of Earth colonies former and present have at least a few Jews - even some former Argentine and Arab colonies. There are Jewish settlements on a number of non-human worlds, and some of their alien inhabitants don't distinguish them from other humans. (Not that they _like_ them: they just don't dislike them _more_ than other humans). There are even a few Jewish colonies (admittedly places absolutely nobody else wants and understandably rather hard to make a living on). As long as you don't make too much of a fuss, there are all sorts of possibilities for a Jew in the modern galaxy. (Sure, they aren't all good possibilities, but when are they ever?) Some Jews even think it's getting to be time to reclaim the land of Israel, possibly by buying it from the Vegans (a proposition that rather doubtfully assumes they'd want to sell), or perhaps soon the Council will get fed up with the Vegans holding onto a chunk of Earth and a neutral party will be needed to occupy the place, since otherwise the Persians and Egypt/Libya will start fighting over it again. There are plans for a Neozionist Congress, and that's got the Vegan's (metaphorical) hackles up, which in turn annoys the gentiles...

[1] Seven hundred years of terraforming and surface conditions are still horrible enough that everyone lives underground.
[2] The Dayanites think Moshe Dayan was an unrecognized Messiah and tend to be rather murderous to any Jews which disagree on that point. The Omayadds are a bit closer to actual Muslims but think any changes to Islam after 750 AD are heretical: by their definition pretty much all modern Muslims are heretics, and fifty years ago, while they were temporarily on top in the ongoing Vegan-on-Vegan violence, they ejected all human Muslims from Vegan Palestine. [3]

[3]The Omayyads aren't really satisfied, since they think Mecca and Medina need to be liberated, too, but there's no way the Dayanites are going to support them on that, and there is also no way on Allah's green earth that the other Council members will be able to argue Egypt-Libya into handing them over peacefully.
