I finished a commission to make a modern(ish) style version of a fantasy map of 8bitninja's. They're on the board so if anyone wants further context for its general lore I'm sure you can ask!

Really doubt you find any Carthaginians Punics to pull that off. You far more likely to have Romanized Berbers doing their own thing.
Punic was still widely spoken in some areas until the 5th century, even if many would've been lower-class individuals. But as you point out, the Berbers were obviously far more dominant, especially militarily. The usurpers who came from North Africa like Firmus were all ethnic Berbers besides Severus who was probably a Punic speaker.

Check my Deviantart's description for a little bit more info: https://www.deviantart.com/ravenzero-one/art/Azur-Lane-s-Political-Map-908625184

I have spent some time on and off wondering about the politics in Azur Lane. There is the indications that Shipgirls/KAN-SEN might be actual political leaders, there is some indication that they are an additional political structure in competition/disagreement with the national/human government, then there is the Naval HQ mentioned, which appears to be an UN/Azur Lane the Organisation related thing with influence over the Shipgirls.

The exact relationship between humans and Kansen probably depends on the nation in question but still, I find it intriguing, looking at various indications in Canon.

Shipgirls and leadership/politics in canon, mostly from memory rather than checking:
Eagle Union: Doesn't really appear to have a leader, thought some battleships and carriers have the attitude/personality for it. (Most likely a very much US style democracy, Shipgirls either elect one of their own as flagship or simply answer to Human government) (Saratoga, Yorktown, Enterprise, North Carolina, Washington, New Jersey, potentially the other Iowas who we haven't seen yet) (Sara especially seems to come up in the modern Siren Azur Lane Naval HQ events, but could be an international relations rather than leadership thing) (latest Northern event has strengthened my belief that Saratoga does indeed fulfill some sort of leadership function).
Royal Navy: Obviously Queen Elizabeth is the Queen of the Royal Navy. Carriers and other Battleships seem to be nobles and high ranked military. There might be some form of constitutionalism there. Regarding Humans, I wonder if UK and Royal Navy are in paralel or if QE is the Queen of the UK as well.
Iris Libre/Vichya Dominion: Both Richelieu and Jean Bart appeared very influential. Thought Iris of Light and Dark does indicate some headquarters/leadership external to Richelieu or Jean Bart.
Dragon Empery: No indication of any organised leadership I noticed. Thought Yat-Sen seems to be their leader.
Northern Parliament: Soyuz seems quite the big deal. Aurora/Avrora is also certainly of note however. There is some note of HQ but that might be the Azur Lane HQ rather than NP HQ. (Looking at the background of a CG in the most recent event I think the Palace of the Soviets got built in Azur Lane verse)
Ironblood: Bismarck and Friedrich certainly seem quite independent and very much leaders (most other Ironblood carriers, battleships and even heavy cruisers seem to be in some sort of leadership position, just not overall). I didn't notice any indication of human leadership.
Sardegna Empire: Vittorio Veneto is the Eternal Flagship, while Littorio has quite the influence. Cavour and Cesare also seem senior leadership. But there is a Senate mentioned which Littorio and Vittorio seem to have disagreements with.
Sakura Empire: Nagato is nominally in charge as flagship of Combined Fleet. But it also seems she's not fully in charge, with the First Carrier Division kind of being like Shoguns. Akagi has also mentioned "Higher Ups" which might be the Yamato class (Nagato does mention giving up the Flagship position to Yamato) or Human/non-shipgirl leadership.

(I have kinda, not really, a little bit worked on a Azur Lane/Kancolle crossover concept and had a basic map, focused on the sea, with the land left empty but my laptop has had issues so I might have lost that and my few notes.)

TLDR, Aliens with ~1810 technology invade Earth in 1917. Shenanigans ensue.
Wonderfully done, though as a Babylon Five fan I can't help but picture a very different Centauri, so it's a good thing you included the illustration!
The Crisis of the Third Century ended badly for the Romans. The Gauls and Palmyrenes split off from the Empire, and the Sassanids - who had made deals with the Palmyrenes - invaded Northern Anatolia in support of the Palmyrenes.
Honestly, the Crisis of the Third Century is underused as a POD. It could have shattered the Empire much sooner, though I'm not sure how long for this world the Gaulic or New Carthaginian Empires would be, as the former has the Pyrenes Mountains working against it and the latter will have trouble with its neighbors due to a bad combination of lower population and lots of agricultural land, unless things were significantly different at the time.

If you want the backstory, the blue thing in my signature that says "Great War of 2050" will take you to the thread.

Hello everyone!

I recently started to get into digital mapping, so I decided the publish the first one I made here. Not a lot lore to the map besides the allied advance being stopped around Gustav line and the Germans being able to hold the Soviets at the Dnieper in the south and an artificial defensive line that was constructed in the North. To free up men needed to hold both of these fronts Hitler gave far lighter terms to the Vichy government than what was initially imposed on France during the June 22 armistice. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

The Philippine Twilight, by Maharlikan_
The Philippine Twilight
----------------------------------

Inspired by GenralBaffoon's style of maps
Part 1
Part 2
Final Part to the "Insurrection" series of maps. Probably the first story I somewhat finished. Might just add some stuff to flesh it out later
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
For almost 3 decades, the Philippine Islands felt nothing but constant war. From the Insurrection against the United Nations in 2034, to the outbreak of a brutal civil war in 2049 that finally died down after nine more years of fighting not foreign invaders but themselves. By 2058, the so-called "Philippine Anarchy" has virtually reached its conclusion as fighting between the factions finally ceased.

Out of the initial 33+ Factions that formed the Filipino Provisional Commission, only nine remained. Most of the independent factions in Luzon was defeated by the victorious Communist Party, who initially proclaimed the Peoples' Republic of the Philippines after the fall of Manila in 2052, but eventually wasn't able to gain a hold over the rest of the islands as their fellow revolutionaries were defeated in the Visayas and Mindanao. While mainland Luzon fell to the communists, secessionist factions such as the Mait's Provisional Government and the Free Palawan Forces managed to stay independent by continuing to repel any attempts by the Communists to land in the island, though the real reason that the communists hasn't been able to expand out of Luzon is because of the amount of partisan groups they're fighting all over the island.

At the center, the Federation of the Bisayas stands as the Bastion of Democracy in the islands, with a parliamentary-style government mirrored from that of Denmark and the UK, though its stability is a different question altogether as the country's Prime Minister tries to balance out the influence of the Federalists and the Centralists, remnants of the original government of the Federal State of the Visayas years prior, to prevent a potential crisis from escalating once more into a Civil War. In fact, the Bisayan Government is currently facing a secessionist crisis as their eastern provinces in Samar broke free and declared their independence as the Waray's Peoples' Republic, though the crisis hasn't escalated into a full conflict as at the moment the two parties are negotiating the new delineation of the Bisayan-Waray border.

At the south, Mindanao lies divided between four major factions. Initially the island was practically a free-for-all until the threat of a complete muslim takeover under the Bangsamoro Republic unified the three pre-dominantly catholic factions to completely push Bangsamoro out of mainland Mindanao. It was because of these cooperation that the three factions agreed to a full peace agreement, though the threat of an islamic resurgence from Bangsamoro's stronghold in Sulu kept the three as allies. In Northern Mindanao, the situation between the Mindanao Federation and the Federation of the Bisayas is rather odd. During the late stages of the "anarchy", the government of Misamis Oriental joined Bisayas without an actual signed agreement, which resulted to the Mindanaon Government assuming that Misamis was invaded by the Bisayan Federalists and invaded the territory. Fortunately, a ceasefire was immediately ordered and the matter is still being negotiated by the two parties, though so far it's getting nowhere.

With that, the last few embers of the Philippine Anarchy has finally come to an end. For the first time the Filipinos in the islands felt peace for the first time after three decades of violence and death. Unfortunately for them, however, the insurrection that initially started to preserve the Filipino Identity and Nation in a world that mostly unified under the United Nations only ended in a tragedy that utterly destroyed the very things they tried to preserve. While there's cooperation between most of the post-philippine states, unification is no longer likely as these new stations would rather march on into a new future by themselves.

From its creation in 1899 to its devastating end in 2049, the history of the Republic of the Philippines finally comes to a close.

The Equator to 15 degrees south, ISOT to a virgin earth.

South America is split in two, and is in a little bit of a cold war. Brazil, and their allies of Ecuador and Bolivia, against Peru and their associated state of Colombia. Brazil and Peru themselves don't really have much bad blood between them, but Bolivia and Ecuador do, and Fortaleza (Brasilia no longer existed and they needed a replacement) has made very clear that it will only protect the two in a defensive war. Peru is mainly focusing on their navy, and has recently secured an alliance with Nauru, and are the main backer of the alliance against Indonesia on the other side of the Pacific. While Brazil is more involved in Africa, mainly fighting against Angola and Gabon.

The Congo broke into many pieces after the event, as did most African nations. Angola was able to reform itself, and other new nations like Katanga and Barotseland have become powerful in their own right, but none shine brighter than the East African Federation. Between its rapid northward expansion, booming economy, powerful military, and growing population, it is seen as a superpower of the future, but only time will tell if it can live up to the hype.

Indonesia is the power of the east. Its population is unrivaled in size, despite losing several outlying regions in the chaos of the warp. They still pretend that they want to reconquer them for pride's sake, but in reality they prefer to just have them in their economic sphere. The Chinese population of the islands was sent to settle in the Pearl River basin due to a rise of Sinophobia in Indonesia, and so far they are still willing to work with Jakarta, though their demands only grow larger with time.

Nearly all other states of the pacific are all technically in a mutual defense pact with each other against Indonesia, but even then infighting is extremely common.

Working on a commission, which is of course why I do anything but the commission, such as this next entry in the wanks series. Credit to @Nugax and @tormsen for some ideas, and the Guatemala (Mayan) wank is of course based on the ITA scenario.

Nice effort, I think you may use lighter shades for either country colors or border colors. That will make things more visible.

Every time I see a new entry in this wank series, I want to see full maps of each of these scenarios shown because they are so interesting and detailed. Great job on your map-making.

Defo. I find the Guatemala wank in particular quite novel and imaginative - a mostly uncolonized native America (sure, there's California-Alaska and Newfoundland... but nowhere near the entire two continents colonized OTL), the Mayan Atlantic hegemony (w/ colonies in Western Europe), a divided China's alt-Age of Discovery, the global Sino-Mayan civilizational rivalry/struggle of sorts, etc.

Very engrossing. I definitely agree on the world map idea - one of those for the Guatemala/Maya one would be fun to gloss over. (... no pressure, though, @B_Munro - my apologies if it is; just an idea)

Here's a small map from my ongoing Alt-Carolingian partition TL. I'm mainly thinking about making maps that are similar in scope as this one, with some larger pieces thrown in since those take up a large amount of time to make.

The division of Burgundy was a direct result of the conflict between the kings of Aquitaine and the Frankish Emperor. Following the Treaty of Cambrai, the Empire was divided between the three sons of Louis the Pious. Pepin, while defeated during the civil war was bestowed with the Kingdoms of Aquitaine, Burgundy and Provence which where later collectively known as "South Francia". During the rest of reign as king, conflict with his brother(s) was never far away as Pepin saw his status as a vassal as a threat to his position and thus sought to undermine the authority of his brother Lothair. He maintained a good relationship with his vassals, especially Bernard of Septimania who had been a close advisor to his father and ardent supporter of Pepin during the civil war. Pepin died in 838 at age 41, dividing his holding between his two young sons Pepin and Charles. Pepin "the Younger" would receive Aquitaine and Charles would get Burgundy and Provence, effectively splitting the kingdom in two. They where however minors at the time, so emperor Lothair claimed the territories for himself. declaring that the young kings where unfit to rule. This set of the second phase of the Carolingian civil war between Pepin's sons and Emperor Lothair. Pepin was elected by his nobles and reigned over Aquitaine as Pepin II. Charles took the crown of Burgundy later that year but sought rapprochement with the Emperor was eventually confirmed as king, even living at the court of his uncle.

Most of Pepin II reign would be characterized by conflicts, both between him and the Emperor as well as his vassals, especially the Basque dukes of Gascony who had been rebelling against his father during the later days of his rule. In 844, he made the fatal mistake of enlisting the help of the Viking adventurer Oscar, who he guided up the Garonne river giving them ample opportunity to scout out the land for raiding. They later also seized the city of Bordeaux from Lothair, with help from disaffected citizens. The loss of this city to a viking pirate as well as Pepin's questionable lifestyle eroded his support among his own nobles, leading to his capture in 852. He was send to the monastery of Saint Médard to live out the rest of his days as a monk. Upon Pepin's defeat, the Emperor awarded Aquitaine to his son Lothair. Upon hearing of the deposition of his brother, and being passed over for the kingship, Charles now rebelled against the emperor setting on to press his claim to the kingdom. His campaign was a spectacular failure and he was soundly defeated in 854 by a Imperial-Bavarian coalition supported by the new king of Italy Bernard II. Burgundy was then divided between the three, which would later give rise to the various medieval fiefs in the area. Provence was attached to Aquitaine and was also given to Lothair II.

But the troubles where far from over, Pepin escaped the monastery that same years and following the death of Lothair in 855, joined with his old ally Oscar and set out to claim his old lands. While initially successful in doing so, Pepin's reputation took a deep dive because of his ties to the viking raiders with some even claiming that he turned away from Christianity. His dependency on Oscar proved to be his undoing however as the latter betrayed him. In a pact with Lothair II, he was given territories around the mouth of the Garonne river as a fief in return for his fealty and conversion to Christianity (these territories would eventually coalesce into the powerful Duchy of Normandia). Pepin II was captured by his old ally in 864 and condemned by edict that same year. He would pass away in prison some time later.
