Greater Carthage and wet Sahara, by Bob Hope
POD; the African Humid Period did not end.

Result = Greater population in North Africa, easier trade/ communication.
Larger population and raw materials base after Carthaginian conquest.
Carthage City is now on the Chott el Gabès, it still has it’s important sea trade routes but also takes advantage of the interior via river traffic.
OTL Carthage is Cothon, the name comes from an island in the harbour, it is still an important Naval port.
The Nok culture thrives with trans Saharan trade.

greater carthage 1 ROME2 c v4 terr.png

Explanations;

Barca = not the city, Hannibal’s name
Kinaani = Carthaginian name for themselves
Traïnós = Trajan
Shpania = Carthaginian name for Spain
Noki = from Nok Culture.
Quirites = Roman name for themselves
Farmer = Literal translation of Agricola
Parni = Parthian name for themselves
Baiuvarii = Alternate Roman name for Bavarians

Lastly;
captain from Marathon = Júlio César football player

Map;
Red square = cities founded by Greeks and Phoenecians.
Yellow square = IRL this is where rock art of chariots have been found in the Sahara.
Pale Green square = IRL stops on Saharan Trade routes.

Juicy Rome and Carthage? haven't seen that combo before

BTW, can I ask for opinions,
which map looks best
1] flat colours overlaid on terrain
2] flat colours overlaid on flat terrain
or
3] blended colours and terrain

A map adapted from a game of EU4 I played some time ago, which I have considered working into a mod for Victoria 3 once that hits the shelves.

Pep talks in front of the mirror again, eh
Normally we do not note when a sock puppet of a Member of the Banned is discovered.

In this case, simply because of the post made in this thread aimed at me, I'm making an exception. This was a a 3rd Generation puppet. (puppet of a puppet of a puppet).

Pro tip - If you are flying under the radar don't zoom up to 10,000 feet and start dropping a couple tons of aluminum coated strips of paper (i.e. Window). Rarely ends well.

It actually took me a while to find what was different. For those interested, Central America unified again, Uganda annexed Rwanda, Tanzania annexed Burundi, Ethiopia annexes Somalia and Eritrea, but leaves Somaliland independent, Malaysia annexes Brunei, Gibraltar and Malta do not exist. Cyprus is unified, as well as Korea, Belgium is split, and the Soviet Union only kicked out Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. Also Nepal and Bhutan unified and annexed Sikkim, and India never loses Pakistan and Bangladesh.

It is Armenia that is independent, not Azerbaijan.

Spain in Fallen Ash

POD: Portugal establishes a few more cities along the West African coast, because Dum Diversas killed a butterfly by accident and felt bad.
(year is 1993 btw :p)
Spain, an imperium built on blood and gold, has become one of the greatest powers of the world.
After hundreds of years of trade monopoly and colonization Spain has fallen greatly, though still a great power. Bolivar freed South America from Madrin. Mexico broke away and became the greatest power on the hemisphere. Catalonia abolished the state and liberated the workers of the Mediterranean. It seemed like Spain would lose everything they spent hundreds of years creating. Around the 1890s the Habsburgs were losing their prestige while Madrid could no longer handle her colonies. Out of desperation, with hope, Spain's government was deconstructed, and the Spanish Imperial Federation was created in its place. Surprisingly, despite the loss of some lands to separatists, it worked. For the past 100 years the Imperial Federation has survived, though with Madrid no longer the titan it once was. Where the project failed, such as Taiwan, Portugal stepped in to help manage Spain's domain.
As the European theater becomes tenser it seems Iberia is either on the verge of death or the at the start of a new golden century.
