Not to mention the massive international crime syndicate
All three of them. Quantum, Spectre, and the latest one. They had their claws sunk in most major nations as well, but the UK managed to weather the storm the best thanks to Bond's actions, though Casino Royale and QoS imply the War on Terror of the 2000s still happened.
I do wonder why the writing has shown the US to be more antagonistic than previous films.
Yeah it seems that Spectre's gotten their influence down into the US State Department, and M downright chastises Bond for taking a job from the CIA.
European fear of neo-isolationism? (It could also be differing US and Western European interests on some world issues)
Tbf a more influential UK Intelligence as a result of Bond does have its own ripple effects that are worth discussing...
That's the biggest one, the UK in Craig Bondverse has it be in a world same as our's, but be at least as influential as it was in the early Cold War. They also manage to deploy a destroyer in the Pacific Ocean very, very quickly. I'm not knowledgeable on if there's British territory there already in OTL, but could this mean that the UK's kept Hong Kong as a port ITTL? Or have leasing rights in Australia? Either way, its a blink and you'll miss it moment, but M briefly says that its not just the Russians and Japanese angry at the UK's deployment in disputed waters there, they're having issues with the USA as well.
Then there's the Nine Eyes in Spectre, rather than Five Eyes of OTL. Nine Eyes is said to include the following countries:
Confirmed members:
Spain
China
France
Germany
Japan
South Africa
United Kingdom
United States
Australia
Ambiguous members:
Italy
With it being specifically listed out as "representatives of the Spanish, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, South African, British, and American intelligence services were present at Nine Eyes' inaugural meeting in Tokyo, Japan."
