Well technically you couldn't do that anyway since as you approach the speed of light, a single hydrogen atom will carry a force equivalent to a nuclear bomb, a supernova, and a quasar as you get faster and faster so it doesn't really make sense to talk about what happens if you hit an object faster than the speed of light.

Most proposals for how FTL could work (and most fiction, including Star Wars pre-Disney) have you go into a parallel dimension or otherwise "fold" the universe through means like a wormhole, so you're never going anywhere near the speed of light in this universe. I think wormholes are probably the most hard science fiction since our understanding of black holes and singularities is still very poor (compared to what it likely could be if we had toys like a particle accelerator around the Sun or the energy to make artificial black holes) so it gives the writer room to insert plausible-sounding technobabble.
Honestly, even that could be mitigated if one decides that already-occurring wormholes can be forecasted (perhaps even induced under the right conditions) and utilized, but not strictly created. I.E. no shenanigans with "shipping" one end into a star to make system-sized flamethrowers or the like, or building planet-to-planet gateways without making damn sure there won't be huge frame-to-frame variances (with catastrophic consequences). Has the advantage of relative scientific plausibility, sets technobabble-light technological limits on the setting (no need to address the angels-vs-cavemen problem), and introduces a pseudo-geographic narrative dynamic (like highways, chokepoints, and the possibility of blockades).

Very nice map that you made!

That looks like an administrator's nightmare, and a cartographer's terror. :p
On the contrary. For my part, I greatly appreciate the internal borders of the Holy Empire and the possibilities they offer for alternative history. 🙂

Very fine, but somewhat lacking in Luxemburg.
OTL the Habsburgs have succeeded in reigning over Europe while having lost the family castle in Switzerland. 😏

True enough, but there' s no particular reason for them to lose the area, either. [1] Few parts of Germany are as hard to conquer as the mountains of Switzerland or the soggy lands of the Dutch.

[1] Aside from providing space to put the list of locations. :winkytongue:

Edit: to clarify, my initial post was made as a joke, not a comment on the plausibility of the map.
