These Fair Shores: The Commonwealth of New England

I'm guessing that the South African Federation is a racist rogue state like OFC's South Africa. How are race relations in the Cape of Good Hope?
Not to mention that there are two small Boer states further inland in Africa (Grootmyn and Kafuestroom) that are both ruled by a White minority

I'm certainly interested in how a full-scale war (in contrast to the proxy wars of otl) between nations would play out in the 70s. I can imagine that the question of the morality of the bombardment and blockade would cause the war to not be very popular with the Empire's youth.

It was an important moment in British history, for one, and a deeply unpopular one at that. Much of the opposition to the war manifested itself in both the government and the opposition, and demonstrations against further action were common.

The South African Federation, while racist, maintains bilateral and regular relations with the countries of the world. The Cape of Good Hope is a fully integrated society with a multiracial Democracy.

I am a simple man. I see awesome post by CosmicAsh, I give tribute of kitty picture:

I assume the Congress of Europe is TTL's Council of Europe.

EDIT: Wait, Canada has university constituencies in its legislature?

Yay for the Liberal Party being in government.

Looks like there were a fair few Prime Ministers over the years. I'm assuming at least some of them stepped down from the position, either by choice or otherwise.

The Congress of Europe is not like the Council of Europe. Think more of the United Nations General Assembly for Europe.

Canada retains university constituencies, yes. One of the few countries to still have them to this day.

The Liberal Party has remained in power fore the past 58 years. It is considered "The Party of Government" by many, and the constantly fractured opposition (and broad tent of the Liberal Party itself), mixed with FPTP, has practically granted them the permanent keys to Number 10.

Those two states are the ones that should be far more concerning to any observer.

Love the Board of Trade idea; I always thought that was a name that had so much more potential than its RL usage has ever implied. Seeing that Gillard went to the University of Accra in this timeline--does that mean the Gillard family ended up in Ghana instead of Australia, or is the King's University there considered particularly prestigious as an Imperial institution (or both)? :)

Cheers! Upon receiving the information on travel to a warmer climate, the Gillard family embarks to the Gold Coast, which at the time was still a Crown Colony. This is where she and her family grew up, and when the Gold Coast was granted its independence, the family moved back to Wales.

What's going on with Miskito? It isn't listed in the British Empire diagram, nor does it have any information in the world map.

I had simply neglected to add them to the World Map through a filing error. The territory had previously been under the protection of the British, until they departed, and a brief war with the Americans ended in the Americans signing an agreement with them for a mutual relationship, a surprising defeat for the USA.

I don't recognize many of the Board of Trade members. In fact, I think the only two that I recognize are Theresa May and Elise Stefanik.

Francois-Philippe Champagne is the current Canadian foreign minister, while the Viscount Thurso is the grandson of Archibald Sinclair (Liberal leader during WWII) and one of the few people to serve in the House of Commons while being a hereditary peer.

I think I’m right in saying he’s the only person to have been in Parliament as an MP, a hereditary peer and a life peer

And now, for the first look into the wider world... the Russian Empire! It will be a longer-term goal to bring a proper, full wikipage for these, but for now... they must be teasers! I hope this will help begin to frame the world...
That's one massive Russia... I take it the population is so huge because there aren't World Wars or communism to cause the deaths of millions?

While we could argue endlessly on the validity on the latter part of that question and claim, this is not the thread to do so. However, you do bring up an interesting point about the timeline. Communism and Anarchism were mentioned in the platform of the Acadien Party for the New England general election wikibox on the first page. What is the relationship between far-left anti-capitalism and modern discourse given the (perceived) absence of the Black Book of Communism and Victims of Communism Foundation in modern discourse? Are there any notable and historically important variants of left-wing ideology like OTL Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, Revisionism, African Socialism, and so on?

Wikipedia tells me there's also Michael Ancram (13th Marquess of Lothian) and Douglas Hogg (3rd Viscount Hailsham)

Spain is Communist ITTL.

Spain is Communist ITTL.
Oh, how did I miss that? In that case, after skimming the pages, what are key tendencies that have come out of/promoted by Spain and have, generally, evolved throughout this timeline? What's the discourse like around Spain amongst the left and outside circles given the President's insistence on Republicanism in that same general election wikibox?

Is there an international organization like the UN ITTL? Does it include places like central Africa, Papua, and the aboriginal nations of Australia that the world map generally had listed with "no information".
