Hmm, Virginia and Colorado are still Republican-leaning swing states ITTL, and Romney even wins Minnesota in 2012, interesting.

Sanders wins Colorado this year and Virginia is within 1%, Ryan wins it as he isn't as toxic in the suburbs and Sanders being a bad fit. Virginia also went with Edwards in 2008, albeit also by less than 1%. Thanks to the scandals involving President Edwards, 2012 was a horrible year for Dems all around and so states like MN definitely fall. Romney won MN by 2% in this timeline and lost MN by 1.5% in 2016.

I think McCain would've won in 2008.
The recession still happens. It wouldn't go so well for a sitting president. Though he does remain more competitive thanks to winning NV, CO and NM all by less than 2% due to home-coattail advantage and FL by 1% for doing better in Miami than he did in out real timeline.

What scandals do you think Edwards would get into in 2012?

If Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinski didn't sink his popularity, I doubt it'd hurt John Edwards that much. After all, we do currently have a guy who's on his third wife in office right now.
Bush didn't have to get reelected though.
