The FOP is one of my favorite tags, so I'll give this a shot.I must say, I hate the patagonian worker's front, and would like to talk politely with someone who likes it to see their point.
Like, the impression I have by playing with them is that they are basically a "internationale occupation zone" in south america, almost as a protectorate, a colony if you will, led by national collaborators but still kept together by foreign aid.
This usually would be a problem but not enought for me to really finds a faction to be terrible as I consider them, but they are also imposing a draconian level of conscription maybe only similar to Long Yun in TNO mod, they are totalitarian, but not ideologically totalitarian, but because they exercise total control over the population there, there are conscription squads that basically moves into villages, take all men, women, old people and children and employ them to fight on the coming war with the north, I would say they are going even further than the nazis did with the volkssturm since the nazis didn't conscripted women (I have nothing against women fighting, my point on his argument is that they are forcing more people to fight than the nazis did).
You also can see how the locals hate this as a event allows you to install political comissars, and if you don't you get another event about people deserting.
The result of such draconian and totalitarian measures is that the war to unify argentina ends being terribly deadly, comparable to the balkan wars, the AI get easily over 200 thousand people dead for such a stretch of Land.
I don't see how the FOP are an Internationale colony? They are heavily reliant on Chilean aid, yeah, and on Internationale volunteers, but the Internationale has very little influence over FOP politics and the FOP quickly becomes fully independent and frankly starts wagging the Chilean dog once they control the entirety of their country.
It is kept only by the internationale presence, it is more like a military colony than a resources one
With due respect to your opinion, the term colony, protectorate, or even occupation zone, are probably not the most appropriate to describe the situation of the FOP, except perhaps to be used in Carles' propaganda campaign.
All these terms, both broadly and narrowly, refer to a certain level of control, whether economic or political, over the country, area or territory to which it is referring. This level of control, as previously indicated by other participants in the thread, is not present in the case of the FOP.
To use a historical OTL precedent, it would be equivalent to calling the United States of America a French or Spanish colony, due to the vital military and financial aid provided by these countries to kept the U.S. up during the American War of Independence.
Without massive French intervention, we would've been crushed in the ARW.Not for one main reason, the US didn't had this level of military control that the internationale has over the FOP
Almost half of their officers are from the internationale, most of the military equipment come from the internationale, and if you go for the internationale military focus you got even most of their manpower coming from the internationale
I believe it fits on this therm, as it is basically being propped up by them

If the FOP were a colony as you say, the French would be directly involved with invading Argentina,
No, the majority of the fighting is done by native revolutionaries, it's like the Spanish Republic having massive international support. And Franco having even more support, at that. But most of the fighting still was made by the americans on the field, this isn't the case of the FOP

No, this doesn't makes sense sense, as the FOP is a chilean puppet state and Chile isn't part of the Internationale
The French and the dutch did a lot of work, and they deserve the credit
